Btw the “I don’t need to sell it” deal is classic. Look, the trailer is for sale, enough said.
Stuck between Great Dane or utility dry van, your opinion?

22K me? Probably not. Two tires is 1000.
The brakes have not seen human hands in a while, witness the gunk on the slack adjusting bolts and also the speed sensor wheel inside the hub with the flat tires seem to me no one has either ever never had it off there or just does not clean it regular. ABS requires counting of those little gear like wheel to know what to do with that tire should you require it.
Brakes seem ok but I don't know what the surface of the inner drum is like, cracked, smooth glazed etc. The reason being is O/O's always stand on the trolley back there first abusing those trailer brakes on mountain before they could be bothered to put their own money into the tractor brakes for which they pay to fix. You follow me?
The inside of the plate above the kingpin... I would like to know if it's secure. It's a little tiny bit off the floor for my taste but what do I know? Picky me.
Things of that nature.
I don't want to lowball the owner, talk with him and ask what he needs to break even to get out of it? 15K maybe? Plus a thousand for his pocket? 16K all done perhaps?
Its just one of thousands of trailers out there, don't fall in love with any in particular.KB3MMX and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
Where would you guys recommend me to get a good decent trailer that could last me 4-5 years, and could get most loads.. everthing I find seems like it’s over priced... if it wasn’t you guys helping me... I woulda pulled the trigger on this trailer.... this trailer I thought I was getting a good deal... I saw same specs going for 26k....

Also the "Pay off my loan" bit is a huge red flag.It can be setup via escrow to pay the escrow company, they get the title from him, money from you and make the appropriate payments and release the title to you when done. This is an everyday transaction for the loan company so they should be able to help you out getting it done correctly if you just have to have that trailer.
KB3MMX, Bean Jr., Dino soar and 1 other person Thank this. -

Ive already explained to REO and others who have expressed the exact thought you shared. It's irrevelant.
Yes I have been away, and no I stand by what I said about reefers being food grade. I have already conceded that I have been long away from dry van, it is not my choice. HOWEVER I expect certain level of clean, swept, good tight no holes leaks or rotting floors.
Trucking is not that complicated. IF we get into a big confab discussion or giant fight over something as a van trailer than there is something wrong with us. I refuse to.
What I realized this year is with my efforts to retread and get back into the big road with a 18 wheeler with the necessary AND current full licensing etc to do it with is a means to OVERCOME the physical disabilities imposed by a breaking down of the body with medical skilled replacement of body parts, joints and so on AS POSSIBLE with success. Im not finished with that yet.
I expect that when it's all done and healed there is very little left that will be a problem. I have been away from Pain medication and muscle related medicines for three weeks now. And #### am I sharp. And guess what that is less of a problem now.
My body has been a prision of pain that I do not wish on anyone. Then the grip of synthetic drugs that is really seriously not approved by God if he was to see it inside my body. It is very dangerous these things and should be outlawed. (One is, Oxycontin... it is literally one or two chemical molecules away from raw black tar Heroin.
I have over come the medicines, I have over come dependance bordering on addiction I have found doctors who smile at the clinic when I show up. I show them that I am happy and motivated. SO I take a little pill now and then when some devil forces a butcher knife into my spine because I took too much physical work. 9 hours of that is over. Done finished. Not constantly on medicine. Per federal law related to trucking 56 hours and I am clean to drive again. No issues.
My next visit in 3 weeks is going to contain a full bottle of untaken pain medicine. all 90 pills. That will be turned in to the doctor and signed off as no longer that kind of patient. It's been a two year and 4 month road I worked to this point.
Hair test issues are eliminated in some months. Urine is not a problem against any panel on earth. My last month's drug test billed 1100 dollars paid 860 to the clinic to go over everything possible in the body all the systems. No problems. Which means I am healthy organ wise except the bad heart valves, surgeons are going to replace those too just like replacing a valve in the engine. Easy peasy. sew it up.
When I am on the road, it will not for the money. Social Security has a very special once in a life time ever anyone can do this. 9 month experiment to work whatever you want in the USA as LONG you meet two things. First. No limit on your income up to 9 months. Second at the 10th month and one day you tell SSA if you expect to keep working. IF you are doing WELL. Disability STOPS. Done. As a American I think that is wonderful not have to depend on the Government to live. I know how to make savings in trucking, it's alerady proven around the time of 9-11. Over and over and over. THAT is not the problem.
You can keep your opinion if I am not a trucker not doing a #### thing but shoot my mouth off. But listen to this. There may be a increasing number of older truckers WHO CANNOT keep a adequate lifestyle on social security at 62 or older and so must make money. Trucking is the last resort and for many it is all they know IF they can overcome the heath problems that took them off the road Like I am doing.
By god I am a good driver just need a dispatcher with clankers big enough to lasso me if need be. Otherwise it's going to run the hell out of that truck. The ELD, laws etc etc will be complied with no trouble because the Govt requires of it. Fine. **Kisses govt laws... in HOS big deal. it's a fomality to punch buttons on duty status.
I have stated before there is one truck stored at a hay farm waiting for me to go get it fired up any time I get back east. I probably will never do that. Maybe one or two more times when required to bury family. #### few I will do.
Arkansas is home and that is where the other truck will be reassigned to me and off we go.
For the JOY OF IT.
This is a semi rant, but people constantly think oh.. x1heavy talks a big game here does not do a #### thing. You just sit and wait. Maybe next year this time I will be putting up Go pro here in Arkansas of the more common screw ups people do around here. I don't know. I could be dead in the morning. It does not matter.
WHAT matters is life is here. You must live your life the way you want it for me I choose to hire the doctors to fix, sew up, saw up and replace body parts until I am good to go. That is my life. Moving up.
Many of my neighbors are trapped. Pernamently in their disabilities and perceived oh.. Poor me. 400 dollars a month income and food free shipped to me among other things and sit there doing nothing staring at 4 walls. Until they are shipped as wards of the state when they lose it mentally and family court deems it a hazard to themselves to wallow in their unfinished house keeping, wastes and so on.
I REFUSE that future. I'll be on Cabbage soon enough.
See you then. -
you guys honestly think that trailer is not worth 22k? rollin coal stated that he sold his dry van for 21.5k to the dealer and it didn't even have all that stuff on it that this does.. and when i looked it up same trailers going for around 26k.... on the market... for 16-18k i barely could find some 2010 vans... compared to 2016, maybe i just fell in love with this van smh, maybe i am not looking at the right spot? you more experienced know any where i should look to get my self a dry van that could last me 4-6 years?(( sorry if am keep asking dumb questions again and again but honestly you guys for reals think 2016 great dane SE, just worth 16k?))
86scotty Thanks this. -
Man says 22K Ok, that's a nice number. Me? Talking to him with money in my pocket? I would ask what he would think about 16K?
In a few minutes somewhere between 22K and 16K between me and owner of that trailer will be a final number.
I like that dane enough to buy it if I wanted a dry van that can still do some battle out there. But as I stated before (Apologies for sidetrack to ignored member) I am primarily a reefer for medicines usually. I can do dry van work with it also. So if that was a reefer for say 25K I would buy it without negotiating.
If I was a trucking company Im pretty sure I can round up some spare tires bolt them on and have the fixing man go after the brake stuff under there.
The deal breaker if anything is cracked, glazed drums on any of the 4 back there below the brake pads on the inner surfacing. I don't know what Drums are priced at but you can abuse them fast. And that's not acceptable.
