I am considering driving for TMC, but have a couple of questions. I live in the St Louis area, and wonder what my freight might look like, and second, does TMC help you find a place to park your rig while your on hometime. I don't have a palce to park the truck.
    Thanks for the help!!!!

Well, I don't know much about TMC outside what I have read here. Im new to the industry myself having just passed my state exam and set a date with KLLM.

I do know that places like Wal-Mart or Costco are trucker friendly. Usually you can go inside and talk to the management and ask for a space to park when your home. Apparently they will let you so you have a safe place to park your rig for your hometime. Thats what I have been told, anyway.

TMC didn't help me find a spot. They wanted me to find a secure gated spot before they would schedule a date for orientation. I asked them where I should park and the recruiter said I don't know just find somewhere and call me back. They just apporoved my spot yesterday and I start orientation on the 26th.

    budroux,
I talked about St Louis freight the other day in the "considering tmc after school" thread by firemanmike1960. It is about 5 posts down in this section of the forum.

TMC may have a suggestion about where to park your truck, but I doubt it. In some high theft cities they require a fenced in lot, but most places all you need is a space with the owners written permission. TMC trucks can't park for the weekend at wal-marts now because too many people were not getting permission, so wal-mart HQ put a stop to it.

    LawDawg and budroux Thank this.

I will be going to TMC on June 22nd for training. I am from Tennessee. Could any TMC drivers tell me if there are any dedicated runs in this area that I might be able to hook up with after I run long haul for awhile and since I am from the south, what are the chances that I could get my FM to let me run the south and midwest regions and not so much the northeast.

There are 2 dedicated accounts that i know of that run out of Tennessee. 1 is Alcoa (aluminum) that is real slow right now and the other is in the boat division out of Knoxville. Don't know exactly where Lafayette is but hopefully this helps...

when you start out you will not get a dedicated run. you will have to be there for a while and if you are new to flatbedding it will be a while. tmc does alot of freight in the northeast so chances are you will be up there. you will get more south stuff than i do since you live in the south and they will try to find you freight home for the weekends. freight is slow right now and tmc will expect you to go where you are told to go. when the economy picks up and freight picks up you may have a choice of where you want to go. TMC is also wanting all drivers to have a passport or a passport card and a twic card. good luck at oreintation and just pay attention and follow the rules and you will do ok. have a good one
