?? Too high for net and too low for gross. Which are you talking about? You can net $1500 on a decent week like he said. I've never made $2500 in 5 days... over fuel yes, but not in pocket after payments.

I was talking about net, but under the premise that they actually pay $1.30+/mile after broker, trailer, and remittance fee. Earl still seemed to think that I was only making $1.15 because we were in the wrong area. I'm skeptical.

Sure as hell beats CHRobinson! I'd be giddy if it paid $1/mile BEFORE deadhead!:biggrin_25526:

Oh BTW, I unofficially have a financial backer to the idea of an engine rebuild/second truck/both when freight picks up. I was happy to hear that. Freight picks up when I say it does, of course lol! "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity! Come join me in this horrible god awful business that makes me want to scream."

Anyways its reassuring to know that there are those with deep pockets that still place bets on me.

Haha yea. It in fact was almost a good thing.

It was like this: Look, this industry sucks. Here is why it sucks. Here is why I think things will REALLY suck for me personally. Things won't suck for you, only me. Here are my projections over x amount of years if you can contribute x amount of dollars. If you can't do x amount, I'm scrapping the whole thing when the time comes. If this sounds good, let me know.

I just can't walk away after all that I have been through. I have to take what I have learned and look forward. I could have done so much more with my life while this whole charade was going on. The last thing I should do is do nothing with it. The plan I am drafting gets my life back in order, ready to do the things I always wanted to.

Congratats!!!! Good Luck. I understand your struggles. This economy killed all of my backing so I am forced to push forward on my own.

I WILL MAKE IT!!!!:yes2557: So will you.

Trucking right now is pretty bad as you know. It's the worst I've seen in quite a while mainly because of the economy.

If you can make it through the next one or two years you will probably be around for some time. If not you gave it your best shot that's all you can do.

On a weather note, Kansas has just been hammered by bad weather the last few nights. Quite a bit of hail, high winds and heavy rain. We had 70 mph winds, maybe higher, here in Hutch last night.

Farmers are getting a little nervous with harvest getting closer.

I think today is the day the elevator is thinking about bringing a bunch of trucks up from the south. These trucks are guaranted a certain amount each day of harvest. They can make more they just know they will make some. They earn their money, they haul for the farmers and do transfers for the elevator. When hauling for farmer it can be very long days, the elevators stay open untill 11 PM sometimes later.

The amount of trucks varies by the size of the crop. Usually at least 20 to 30 but can go up over 50. This is one elevator other elevators bring in their trucks too. That's not counting the farmers and their trucks.
