It appears the boy is starting to develop a little hair on his butt — you haven’t been talking to him on the sly have you?

I don't cry when I see these kiddos, but I proudly say it puts a lump in my throat I have a hard time swallowing. If that means I have to give up my "man card" then I will surrender it gladly.

Just saying, it wasn't a pos truck and that's the market on them. I would pay that for that truck long before I paid more for a plastic one. That's all I will say.

Hey PC...honest talk. I’ve had friends at all of the above. Some do well, some don’t. Here’s what I know:

One of the biggest mistakes the guys in our end of the business do is roaming all over the US for the same dollar amount per mile. You cannot do this. You take a load out into a dead zone. All of the freight out of the dead zone back to the freight lane pays $.85/mile. And yes, that’s a bad thing

However...if you break down in the middle of nowhere, the repair rate is going to be DOUBLE. They’re going to kill you. So, you need double your usual rate minimum. They’re not going to want to do that, because they will have some unsuspecting idiot that will run out into the dead zone for $2/ mile. You can do better by fiddle farting around in your freight lane and taking loads on the location alone. The only time you should even consider going into the dead zone is for when the money is obscene. But you will see guys do it all the time.

    Which one?
Been about 15 threads all very similar in the question, and they all want to hear that they should buy it.
Generally start something like this: I haven't seen it in person yet but on Craigslist is a great 1995 freightliner the guy says it is the best truck ever. Pretty sure it even comes with an engine and its probably the best engine ever made to.
    Should I buy it?
    He is only asking $50,000.

If i say anything besides "you need to rush right over there and slap the cash down" . They get upset. Don't mention taking it to a shop, or its over priced, or people selling often use largely exaggerated descriptions about how awesome their truck is.
I don't know why they bother asking for opinions, because all they want to hear is yes yes yes. I've bought way too many trucks in my lifetime for being that way. I didn't know squat when i bought my first truck. I had driven trucks for others for a few years, so thought I knew it all. Been 31 years since I bought my first truck, I didn't finance it, I saved every penny I could and lived a meager life those few years, so I plopped down the cash, drove away in my new to me 8 year old kenworth. That was when the education really started. 31 years later I am still learning a lot about the industry as a whole, and about buying trucks, despite having bought over 35 of them. But on ttr I will either not say a word on any future should I buy this threads, or even if it just hit a concrete barrier head on at 70 mph, I'll say sure why not.
Some people don't want the truth... again I'll say it...Can't fix stupid!

My wife says the same thing. She had to work on the pediatric wing of the hospital for a couple days when she was in school. She came home a wreck. Said they all admit not very many healthcare professionals can do it and hold themselves together.
