I was working 30 some hours most of June with the exception of covering a vacation at an extended center for a week. July has been similar with the exception for the last few weeks at 40+. Got a bump in pay because our local was using seasonal workers which was a nice surprise.
This week I've been sitting so I'm guessing volume dropped on top of not to many vacations. They gave me a courtesy heads up yesterday about a lot of people being off today so could get called in.
Just have to roll with the punches. All just depends on whats going on at your barn and if you'll be moving up in the near future. Sometimes you have to have a little patience.misterG, LtlAnonymous and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
This'll happen. I do the same thing. Too many newbies to bother learning them all. Its streaky.....sometimes
Got a few that have made it past 30 days. Those I learn their names. Have one right now, that is constantly whining. He'll maybe see the end of the month, before he quits.
He was in sales\delivery\install (dish network I think) before he came to us. He'll go back to something similar soon.FlaSwampRat, LtlAnonymous, MACK E-6 and 2 others Thank this. -
“Too much like work”.misterG, FlaSwampRat, LoneCowboy and 1 other person Thank this.

It's all about the reward for the work. I'll work like a horse for the right employer.misterG, SidewaysBentHalo, Cardfan89 and 2 others Thank this.

Perhaps, but techies usually don’t tolerate the indignity of getting their hands dirty.misterG, Bob Dobalina, dwells40 and 3 others Thank this.

That's because they're used to a higher ROI on their work investment. We've let that slide in trucking the last 20 years or so, in general. (At a lot of companies, not all.)The Shadow, FlaSwampRat and LoneCowboy Thank this.

Seen a UPS sleeper team on its side in the middle of I-70 out here in Colorado. They didn’t have medical so I’m sure their fine. That must have been a rude awakening for the guy in the bunk. This is why I don’t like seniority based teams vs put together teams. If I team I’m bringing someone I know and trust. Seniority teams you have to hope and pray you get someone good and responsible.
Their requirements are very low to get on also so they are looking under every rock. Only 2 years exp. and no accidents within a Year. Not 3 years or none.
Lol.LtlAnonymous, road_runner and McUzi Thank this. -
Oh I remember the days running teams for YRC. My usual partner was off on vacation and I would end up with a brand new guy for a week. Just got cut loose from training.... definitely slept with the net over me in the bunk... what sleep I actually got. Nothing like being woken up because this new guy is grinding gears and stalling out trying to get up the grade by Park City Utah. Can’t recall if thats on 80 or 70 over there. Been a few years.
LtlAnonymous Thanks this. -
Ohhh, those YRC teaming days. I'm glad I did it, but I will never do it again.
