You are excatly correct! I couldnt have said it better myself.
In every other industry if the cost of providing a good or services go up, the price to recieve siad good or services goes up as well. When did truckers quit doing this? It is economics 101. We provide a valuable service and should paid accordingly!
Wake up! you are worth more than you are being paid. If they dont want to pay, let the freight sit!

Very sound theory...but....nothing but slaves going through truck schools now...happy with what little they get on their paycheck!

Sad, but true. It is just another sign of the declining state of the industry.
Another sign is how many companies really value their experienced drivers? Or how many companies are not even hiring experienced drivers but will take a student right out of school b/c they wont have to pay them as much? Not to mention how many companies cant wait till we throw open the border and they can pay the mexican drivers even less?
Companies are doing this b/c they are unwilling (afraid of losing business) to ask their customers for a rate increase. So they take their profit out of their drivers' pockets instead.

Tell me what other business gets away with this.

There are laws that protect an average job worker, but not a TRUCK DRIVER.

That crew went off duty at 8 am. They work in the ambulance in our county, but live in the bigger town to the south about 20 miles.

Probably will not know anything till I get back from the next 2 weeks out.

My dept wouldn't let me stay on due to the training nights I would miss when I went into trucking..you got lucky out there...but we have so many EMT/P's out here, you basically can't get on with a FD unless you have the EMT-3 or better, and like PD's completed some acredited fire academy just to get hired...not to many volunteer depts out here anymore either. Mostly paid with youth organizations like Explorers, who get some help getting into academies.

With the gig I do most of the time, I go out for a week or so, sometimes 2 weeks. Home is 3-4 days and then out again.

This last time, home last Sat. Maybe leave early am. tomorrow.
