i was driving the truck, but i did not cause the accident. it was not a preventable accident, nor was it my fault.

before anyone accuses my driving ability being the problem getting up that hill.... i have driven 2 different T660's, 2 different pete 386's, a 2001 freightliner SD120, and a 2006 international eagle all up the same hill with similar loads and NO problem. only one truck gives me grief. i have gone up that hill in the winter covered in snow and ice.

I drove a 2016 t680 then had to use an auto 2016 t680 for a few weeks. The auto was ridiculous slow. It accelerated at less than half the speed of the manual. Even entering the highway was difficult. It took a long time to get up to speed and really struggled on the hills

I got a 2014 MX-13 500hp and it is a beast on grades.. Would out pull a 2016 500 hp Cummins I used to drive..

Fwiw, I feel your pain and have been put in a turd-truck a time or two.. Unfortunately, sucking it up isn’t in my vocabulary.. Personally I’d give the boss an option...and be prepared to leave.

the story i have heard about this truck from multiple people when it was new it was assigned to a driver (chet what his name). chet liked the truck. it went into the shop for PM one time. when it was in the shop the lead mechanic hooked up the laptop and screwed with engine parameters, apparently he de-rated it. chet got so pissed off on how badly the truck performed he eventually quit. the truck has been a basket case/ turd ever since. i am not the first person that has complained about it. i know another driver who currently works with us, he said he would rather stay home then drive this turd. this truck just came back from the kenworth dealer in an attempt to fix it, i believe its slightly better then it was..... but it is still no where near right. not even close.

today i was driving this truck on RT20 with a full load of milk..... i actually had a truck behind me call me on the CB and asked me if he could pass..... there were oncoming vehicles so i just asked him to be patient. i started at the bottom of the hill at 65 by the time i reached the top i was doing 30 over 10 mph slower then any truck i have ever driven.

at least my boss is aware this truck is a problem and is allowing me to take the 2006 international...... which i will say is a nice running truck.

im not nit picking that i think i need a new truck. frankly i wouldn't care if the truck was a 1990 KW T800...... if it runs well and gets the job done it does not matter. a turd is a turd, has nothing to do with age or cosmetics.

I used to pull 114,000lbs gross with a 262 Cummins and a 4x4. Had to rebuild the shift knobs every time i changed the oil but it did the job. If you think you can make a small displacement engine pull at 1100rpm I’m going to say you are a big part of the problem
