Recently my driver's side manual window stopped working. I removed my door panel and noticed the regulator looked pretty clean but the window channel connected to the scissor regulator was totally rusted through and bent up. The window was basically just floating in the door because the piece that the window is supposed to be seated in is destroyed. I taped it up closed and started my search. Not surprisingly they don't make the channel any longer so it's not available. I do find the Muncy regulator in stock at Hartford Freightliner/western star. I order the regulator just to have it for future use. The channel that goes with the regulator is also a Muncy part#. I contact Muncy and they no longer have it or make it and refer me to a dealer. So next I try Canadian salvage yards where the truck was made. I call about 5 and no one has just the channel. I can buy full doors but not internal parts for them. So I'm determined to find this channel somewhere as old stock, someone must have one right?!! No luck whatsoever. I end up finding a dorman Channel that looked similar but I can tell in the picture on Amazon it's not exactly right. I have nothing to loose so I order it for about $50. I took the old channel that was ruined and i was still able to get the factory length from it. After seeing the new dorman channel I knew I could make it work even if I had to move one of the slots that connects to the regulator. I ended up only having to cut about 3 inches off of the end that sits in the vertical window track to make it work. The two slots are in exactly the right spot. So this part isn't the right part bit with one cut does the job perfectly for driver's side manual window channel on my 91 star 4964f. I added one pic from the Muncy website that clearly shows the correct channel for comparison. I told them the picture was misleading. You can see the dorman is longer on one end, maybe for a window without the vent window. Here are the part numbers for anyone who runs into this issue. Also the dorman channel is painted with a rust resistant paint compared to the original which was bare metal.
Western star channel # Arsbwl24a2
Mun565914 regulator
Dorman channel # 750-5501
91' 4964f window channel

Great find! With our 1989 4964f needing some attention and pretty much no dealer support we have to dig deep. I just posted in the wrong forum looking for exhaust isolators for the back of the cab Im having no luck with...
would you happen to have replaced the vent window locking mechanism? Both ours are broken...as usual dealer and old truck dont jive! -
