Someone please update this on which Ins companies you went with, I was going to do exactly what the OP did (albeit I do have exp running dumps) but gave up because I was told by several people including Progressive lady that they no longer insure New venture Owners with "no exp"
I have been in the aggregate business since I was a Kid, I don't need to go pull a van with a Some mega for a year to know how to drive a truck. I've been running a Concrete mixer for years now and that is one job that will teach you how to handle a truck in all conditions.SL3406, piston757, Midwest Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Why not food receipts? Eating is a necessary expense of living on the road to earn the income.piston757, Cabinover101 and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
I was 27 when I bought my first truck, and had had my commercial license since the day I turned 18, but several insurance companies turned me down because I was too young. They have got steadily worse since then.

As far as I know meals are deductable for an OO, but you are better off just deducting the daily limit.

I normally wouldn't recommend this but maybe it would be a way to get the truck up and running. Maybe see if he can run on a 1099 Craigslist company insurance until he gets enough time in to make insurance easier for him? I honestly don't even know if it can work that way but those guys seem to pull trucks out of their ##### to get trucks on the road. Yea the pay probably won't be the greatest but maybe it could get him out there in his truck learning until he can get a better deal.

If there is a will, there is about always a way. I’ll leave it at that.
