If you start out by logging this as on duty, and telling dispatch your not moving the truck when you get there your going to have a really short career, you might as well stay home. I would not tell you how to log this, but if you listen to the crap here that has nothing to do with the real world your employment wont last 30 days.
Do DOT hours of service apply when flying?

Well, it's all fine, they started out trying to route me up I-15 and I-70 to get to Tulsa from Vegas. *big giant game show loser buzzer BZZZZZZT*
I told her I-40 is a good 120 miles shorter and the hotels line up better.
I'm going I-40. Flagstaff is booked for tonight, Tucumcari for tomorrow night. I'll be in Tulsa easy, 242 today (4.5 hours), 497 tomorrow and 549 Monday. Perfect. No argument on the flight time as on duty, in fact, it was originally booked for Cedar Creek UT and Aurora CO, but Aurora to Tulsa was 650 miles.
Their "Tulsa" is ACTUALLY Coffeyville KS. Go figure. Now I'm 76 miles from Tulsa. Wife is PISSED but they claim I'll be in Tulsa proper within a few weeks. -

Perhaps I could find Mike's home address and post it too.....
Basically....I'm not an a-z-z.....so I won't....
I happen to live in the real world where we can be sued just because we pizzed-off a neighbor.....
That's why my name is not on the door....
That's why I'm in a corp...versus a "sole proprietor".....
We as business people are exposed enough.....posting information although public, was irresponsible on Mike's part.....Mike just made it easier for some scammer to profit from fraud.....
There are these concepts called "Respect" and "Courtesy"...perhaps Mike could look up the meanings to both of those words.....
The main difference between Mike and our resident DOT is, that our DOT members act professional....perhaps Mike should try that concept as well... -

http://ai.volpe.dot.gov/ = All vehicle and company information
Or:
http://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/ = Insurance and process claim agent information
I haven't noticed any complaints when other carriers' enforcement action was posted. I suppose it's a matter of disbelief the information is available.
I have posted my opinions on several boards that post information regarding the identification of the person making comments. My name address and position are all available on the Internet.
So yes you could post my address without paying money to a search engine that charges for personal information.
A sore head for sure. I cannot attest to the statement's facts regarding the other.
Yes so what's the point. If you degrade property value, hurt some one, kill some one, or cause property damage you can be sued. What does that have to do with the issue?
Hopefully you mean your front door and not the vehicle's door. You must mark the power unit on both sides with your company's name and US DOT number proceeded by "USDOT".
That is beneficial in retaining your personal property when the corporation does bad things.
Any of your competition, your insurance company or an attorney has access to the information provided. If there is a pattern of violations your insurance company will raise your rates; your competition may use the data to convince a customer you present a risk and may not be able to deliver the fright; an attorney may use the information to convince a jury the settlement should be for several thousands or millions more.
In the not too distance future CSA2010 will be fully implemented.
http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/safety-security/csa2010/home.htm
Carriers that fail to monitor their Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) data will have difficulty in remaining in business as "Safety Ratings" will be generated off "Driver Safety Evaluation Area (SEA) Scores;" "VehicleSEA Scores;" AccidentSEA Scores;" and "SafetyManagementSEA Scores" opposed to the current practice's method of performing compliance reviews.
Carriers not familiar with the process of submitting DataQ Challenges at www.safersys.org to remove inspections not associated with their US DOT number or challenge inspections and accidents will be jumping through hoops playing catch up after the fact.
Respect is earned not given. You have a problem with that then that's your problem.
Courtesy.... I offered you a courtesy by demonstrating your information was public and it's imperative you avoid a pattern of violations and ensure the inspections presented are yours. Better you learn the lesson early on than later.
Had your feeling hurt and taking a stab? That's OK, I can take the pressure.
I've stressed many times on several boards; The information presented is the strictest limits of the rule. If drivers are aware of the strictest perception of the rules they can make better choices on how they operate.
It's a fact that drivers who are unfamiliar with the HMR and FMCSR are prone to OOS orders and penalties and set up their employers for penalties, lost business, and higher insurance premiums.
I'm not a touchy feely sort of person. I'm politically incorrect and go by the book. When drivers or carriers are in violation they will be cited for the applicable violation.
I work with the FRA four times a year at the Intermodal yards around Chicago spot checking drivers and carriers for compliance. On a typical day I contact 30 drivers to acquire their CDL info, look at their med cert, obtain a VIN and US DOT number. I've had few problems with drivers. On occasions I perform Level I inspections at the scales. I'm curt but polite.
My issue is drivers that fail to comprehend the potential affect of their actions. I've dealt with multiple fatalities and assisted in investigations that resulted in drivers going to jail. I often shake my head and wonder... What were they thinking.
I am willing to answer any question asked and provide an interpretation and the relevant regulations. To quote Joe Friday.... "Just the facts." What a driver or carrier does with the information is their choice.

Mike...since you're the expert and have all the info on me and my operation...Then you should acknowledge that I have a perfect record not only with the CHP, but nationwide as well....
The only people who need to know my business and its operations are
Law enforcement
The IRS
The California State Board of Equalization
IFTA
UCR
DHS
My insurance companies and Process agents....
and the brokers with whom I conduct my business...no one else.....
Not my racist neighbor who hates whites.... Yeah...he still calls the local PD that I still park my rig on the street and Code enforcement that I park in it in my driveway....never mind that the last time my rig was in the driveway was well over a year ago...the guy is a prick.....
Not the scammer who sees my rig running down the highway for an easy buck....
Again...I didn't start this little vendetta you have...you did....
That's why I prefer Anderson and Diesel Bear's advice over yours...They have my respect and my admiration....because they have shown respect to me and the other members on this board...
Perhaps you could stop playing Mr. Bad ###, put down your badge (this is the forum...not the highway here partner) and show a little respect....Then you might have mine directed back to you. -

I know nothing of your operation. I posted information available on the Internet. Since management has removed the data it's all but forgotten.
It wasn't that impressive.

And the public that operates vehicles on the highway when involved in an accident with your vehicle or that have property damaged in association with your operation. That's why you have public liability insurance.
I have discovered multiple occasions where motor carriers have $1,000,000 policies but the L & I web site http://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/ and the carrier's MCS Form 90 indicates the carrier has $750,000 of insurance. The reason for the discrepancy is that insurance underwriters do not care for the "Environmental Restoration" requirement the MCS Form 90 carries.
The problem is this if a carrier transports ANY quantity of HM they must have $1,000,000 of insurance and have an MCS Form 90 listing $1,000,000 of insurance. Failing to have the required proof of insurance is a "Critical" violation. On more than one occasion the insurance underwriter has refused to issue a MCS Form 90 reflecting $1,000,000 until the L & I web site indicated the carrier required $1,000,000.
It frustrates me to see people in business that doesnt have a clue of what they need and what the status of their company is.
It amazes me how paranoid you are regarding information you believe is sacred. Your license plates are on the tractor for the public to see. Your DOT number is there for the public to see.
Whether you like it or not your history is an open book for any person that has your US DOT number.
Not my racist neighbor who hates whites.... Yeah...he still calls the local PD that I still park my rig on the street and Code enforcement that I park in it in my driveway....never mind that the last time my rig was in the driveway was well over a year ago...the guy is a prick.....Click to expand...
So you believe your neighbor is here waiting for information to nail you? Seems to me your original post stated people were watching scales with binoculars writing down DOT numbers as you crossed the scale. PFA

Many years ago a constituent called his congressman and stated a green truck with a big white A on the side blew a tire and damaged his car. The event supposedly happened crossing from GA FL. The FMCSA was asked to investigate and report to the congressman. We did, the carrier had approximately 500 trucks with a regular route going to FL. The exact incident was never identified, but the carrier was investigated.
What many carriers dont understand is debris from the road is road hazard. Debris falling from the truck is unsecured cargo.
If you contributed to damage then youre liable. End of story.

I guess thats your perception. Seems to me you made a comment requesting I should check your stats if I could find them after boasting you had a clean bill of health. All youve ever been subjected to is a safety audit. Youve never had a compliance review. If and when you do then any violations discovered will be public information as well:

I dont carry a badge. If youre looking for some kissy feely stuff you have the wrong person. If you dont like my post ignore them, thats your right.
I doubt you will ever come around to my way of thinking but thanks for the offer. I dont worry about respect here as I know the Internet is a faceless forum with much bravado about nothing.

well again...you are the expert....If and when you pull me over for "driving a truck on a sunny day"...I'll be professional and polite...That's my job as a driver....also I have the right to your badge number and your commander's as well...
Last time I checked...I was an American citizen with Constitutional rights....
Btw...the two gigs were off...you forgot the part where I didn't have an employement app filled out (for my own corp to boot) as well...just more bureaucratic B.S. that I complied with and more money to the state as well.... -
Mike no disrespect but you are so much like the Butter-bars I dealt with in the ARMY...
"Everything by-the-book....."
Well there's the book and there's real life.....you need to distinguish between the two...
I got nailed at a road check with my ten-wheeler because the knob lettering on the tractor valve had worn away. The officer claimed that in an emergency....You have to be able distinguish between the tractor valve and the trailer valve.....
Now I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed by any means...If you have to stop and look down to determine which knob does what application....you have no business in the truck...period.....Yeah, I complied and replaced both with chrome knobs....I was surprised when I went to the coop that some young LEO with a need to prove something didn't write those up because one wasn't yellow and the other red.....
No....what happened was the officer who signed-off the "violation" was practical about the whole deal.....
Then there was the time that I got a ticket for being over-laden on a street where I had a permit to work on the street and drive on the street...well that wasn't a trooper...that was a city kitty who basically told me that a paid permit to work and drive in his town didn't mean sheyat to him and wrote me up anyways....
I took the ticket to my super and my company took it to court and beat the ticket....
Yeah...we have teeth too my friend...they're called lawyers....
Be safe.....lilillill Thanks this.
