Don’t understand the logic in not working on volvo’s, paccar mx13 is a daf motor also European.
They are a Diesel engine at the end of the day, the same basic principal applies to all of them. -

I would not go for a 670 with 2 people. 780 gives you lots more room and options. Lots more room. I have a 15 780 with a D13, Ishift, 750k and have had very few issues. It had 2 injectors under warranty before 500k and hasn't had more than an overhead since then. Water pump, belts and tensioners were an easy swap in the driveway.
I would look for a Volvo that has an APU and hopefully hasn't been idled extensively. I'm picky about that and think it has a lot to do with mine staying healthy. I watch my DPF soot gauge and it's stays low. Only once have I had this truck to a regen while idling. It always does them while I'm driving and I don't know it.
Definitely plan to replace a Volvo radiator and overflow tank around 500k. I did and have heard it's pretty standard.
Don't be afraid of an iShift. This is my first automatic (although it's actually an automated manual) and lots of shops will tell you they've never been in one because they are so reliable. I'm betting about every problem ever with them has been documented here. If you can handle an iShift your options on a Volvo will open up considerably.
Look for rust at the bottoms of the doors. My Southern run 2015 is already developing this on the passenger door.
If you do a lot of cross country, longer runs, you'll see more Volvos than ever. There seem to be about 3 trucks on the road. Nice Petes that are usually O/O's, company Cascadias and more and then Volvos running the wide open spaces. I hardly ever see them on the side of the road. Lots of Canadians and folks not from the U.S. run them and get by fine.
The myth that people won't work on a Volvo or that you won't find service is just that, a myth. -
The doors on a volvo are steel?

I had already came back and left a drive on the truck, we tried to come up with a way to lease him my truck, We even talked about me selling oit o him and or trading for another truck, in the end we just brought it back. and I helped him get some jusn ones, and I do mean junk we threw together down to finish the season. They kind of did, he bought 5 brand new petes and log gear and took this year.
pretty much every log truck in the area went down there, then the mill here ran out of wood, They LOANED me their truck and took care of insurance and everything to get me to hauling them logs, till mine came home. lolCabinover101 Thanks this. -
