Yes, that's what I said. I also said it doesn't rely on only friction. You want to ingnore the cable anchor you described as only wire? Why do they even have a cable anchor if it isn't important?
The anchor desnt hold much tension, it certainly isn't holding th load, but it's there for a reason!
Same thing with a strap winch.

Look the horse is dead, you seem to have had trouble and you think because of that it’s a problem for everyone. You’re hypothesis does not defy physics.LoneCowboy Thanks this. -
Why does the strap winch manufacturer specify not 6" but 12" of strap that needs to be put through the winch? Even when it works on the same principle of cable on a crane cable. -
Look man you’re in the bottom of a hole and still digging, that’s on you. -
Why listen to the manufacturer when we can get away with 1/6 of what they recommend?
Why am I the only one that can pull the "short strapped" end out of a winch with 3 turns of strap on it with just a winch bar? I weigh 175. Like the way kylefitzy posted about. Just sticking the strap partially through.

kylefitzy and spyder7723 Thank this.

Company I pull for said they got popped in PNW for short ending. What I use is 18" x 1.5" piece of banding, sanded down sharp edges and corners to push strap end thru winch. DOT can see strap completely thru, still faster/easier than feeding entire strap thru.

Companies can say a lot of things and often do to get their employees to do it the way they want it done. No different than melton and tmc telling their guys its illegal for straps to be outside the rub rail and you have to have 4 straps in the first 4 feet.
Just because someone says something doesn't mean it's accuratekylefitzy, LoneCowboy and beastr123 Thank this. -
Must be be something small right? A wallowed out winch slot? A bit too much dirt on the strap?
