I just had my scariest moment in a big truck a week ago...I had just gotten thru Shreveport La. going eastbound and was just getting ready to put the cruise control on and assume a relaxed sitting position resting back in my seat when the metal brackets on the seat frame broke and my seat fell in to the sleeper. I was going about 70mph when this happend..the only things upfront in the cab were my feet up under the dash and one hand held on to the steering wheel with a death grip...got resituated and off the road and got seat fixed IMEDIATLEY.

lol its funny as all get out now but it sure as heck wasnt when it happened...when I got back to the yard they changed out my passenger seat with my driver seat and I'll be more than happy to show you how I put it back together to get it home....However I will now happily ENDORSE JB. WELD...i did not think it would hold but it did for 9 hours long enough to get it back to the yard..lol

Not sure what it was but it was whatever the love's at minden la had lol....it was 2 tubes that i had to mix together but its still holding good over there now on the passenger side...I dont ever have riders so its not really an issue. boss man said that if it was broke to bad i should just pull it out and get a milk crate to sit on and drive it home...as he laughed...

I almost nailed a deer on I-70 tonight. I swerved right and he went left, missed him by about 3 feet.

Sliding backwards down a grade because I figured I could get by without chaining up. Hard (but lucky, didn't go over the side, got stopped, and chained up!) lesson learned. There have been days since that I've chained and unchained 15 times but if that's what it takes.

My scariest moment ever has turned out to be my most rewarding experience ever. It happened in May of '86. I was driving for CR England at the time and had a load going to LA. I was on I-10 in the panhandle of Fl on a beautiful sunny Friday afternoon. An east bound truck told me that there was a bear on the off ramp with a four wheeler stopped on the shoulder. As I approached the off ramp I saw the Trooper looking in the trunk of the four wheeler and all of a sudden there was a huge explosion that sent me straight to the medium. I got back onto the roadway and hit the shoulder. I jumped out of my truck, grabbed my fire extinguisher and raced over to the Trooper. When I got there he was nowhere to be found, the grass around the troopers car was on fire so I jumped into the car and backed it up. To my shock the trooper was on the passenger side of the car and was critically injured. I got on his radio and yelled for help, then went to check on the trooper. Needless to say he was dead. To shorten this story up, the trooper pulled this car over and the driver and passenger had an expired rental agreement, they took them to the local jail and he went back to take an inventory of the car. When he opened the trunk he saw a box that he opened and thats when I was driving past. That's when the bomb went of. The bomb was being delivered by these two yahoo's from a guy in Miami that wanted to do away with his business partner in Tallahassee. Being an eyewitness I was subpoena was flown in for a deposition, then flown in for the trial as a witness for the state. The three jerks all where found guilty and sentenced to life w/o parole. This happened 23 years ago and after all these years it feels like it happened this morning. I still keep in touch with this troopers family to this day. This experience has taught me a life long lesson that says don't take anything or anyone for granted, you just never know.

Parked in the North bound rest stop on I271 once at about 2AM headed for NY with a load of beer from the Miller plant in Trenton. The parking spots were on a pretty good uphill slope.
I was sick with the flue, had a fever, and just wanted to sleep. About a half hour after falling asleep I had a dream I forgot to set my parking brakes and the whole truck was headed south bound backwards in the northbound lane. I jumped out of that sleeper about as fast as you can jump and ripped the little yellow knob clean off the dash. It was already pulled and I wasn't going anywhere but it sure scared me awake!

Four wheeler slammed on his brakes in front of me and was going 65. Truckers start drifting into my lane when they are passing me, forcing me to go to the shoulder. 4 wheeler going wrong way on the interstate and almost hit me. Smoked my brakes going down donner( I now go down it in 8th or 9th gear) Putting chains on and almost getting hit by 4 wheeler. :biggrin_2552:
