What bank is it that you bank with that will allow you to keep an account with no money in it or little money in it without paying a monthly fee?

As a new entrant, you probably have to deal with whoever you can deal with until you get a little time under your belt.

But of every broker that I have ever heard anybody talking about, they sound like they are the absolute worst and I think I'm just going to completely cross them off my list, never to do anything for them.

Yep, I worked with TQL for the first two years after opening my MC and then stopped for another two years. It's not that I had huge problems with them all the time, but you always expect some kind of BS.
Few months ago I needed to get home Asap and decided to book a load with
    them, then this happened.
I was 70 miles out and the confirmation said detention will be paid after five hours, so I asked to change the terms in writing, before I sign it

That's what I mean about those guys.

It's one thing for a company to attempt to pay you a lower rate. It's a whole other thing for a company to sit down and try and figure ways to just flat-out screw you every which way. That guy sounded like a real douche.

    Unbelievable.

That's ridiculous,30 dollars per hour after 5....when you know darn well they are charging$65 per hour after 2.(industry standard practice)

That alone right there should have you concerned.

And this happens because sadly your"not needed"....
They have enough idiots calling them daily....too much capacity, they know it,now you know it.

I tried telling you guys for years to avoid brokers at all costs...They think they can do anything they want, untouchable pieces of trash.

    Nobody listens

It costs about $5 a month to keep this strategy going. I consider it cheap insurance since I often run the spot market and can deal with 100+ brokers a year.

A single $2000 unauthorized charge back would be the equivalent of more than 33 years worth of service fees.

In my specific case my bank is giving me their lockbox service for free which is worth much more than $5 a month so I'm money ahead even with the account fees.

You could run a hybrid version of this strategy and keep $500 or so in the payment account to avoid the monthly fee, but a $500 loss would cover more than 8 years worth of monthly fees.

How can any broker deduct money from your account , unless you your self give them access and and aproves it through the bank.

Dang Dune, that is nuts. I could see that from a lot of brokers I could name but definitely TQL and definitely a good reminder. I hope you forwarded that on as high as you could with them but I know it might be a waste of time.

I try pretty hard not to work with them and you've just reminded me why.

I have a similar 2 account process but I'm definitely interested in your setup where the bank accepts and deposits checks. Man, if I could take this chore off my wife and kids it would be awesome. Is this a friendly deal with an old banker or common practice? I'm definitely going to ask my bank but curious how you swung that.
