I personally got nothing against it. I do it myself every now and then. I don't have a reason. If you do, why?

Some lights won't shut off if the engine is running.
Some safety departments want the headlights on if the truck is moving.

Mine come on in my Mack, when I start it. Company safety feature, I guess. It's a 2019 Pinnacle.

Usually my lights stay on. The truck runs day and night and the lights just stay clicked on until we park some where for whatever reason. Then the low beams are turned off but I leave the ambers on. I like the gold glow it puts off.

many vehicles nowadays have automatic ON headlights(also known as daytime running lights, or DRL). some you can turn off, like on my toyota. but i leave the daytime running lights on all the time.

it was found to be a safety feature in even the bright sun of the dessert roads, like the southwest.

you will see an oncoming vehicle.

Their original purpose was the same as it is today: increased visibility for other motorists around you. However, in Sweden (or indeed, anywhere very far north), the position of the earth creates lower ambient daytime light for about half the year. That means that even on the brightest of days, visibility is compromised. Naturally, SaabOpens a New Window. and VolvoOpens a New Window. were the first to implement DRLs.

when ever i take my car to the dealership for service, before i drive out the door, i have to turn them back on, cuz as they are servicing the car, many times they leave the key on, and the lights will stay on.

i leave the switch alone in DLR "ON", just like i fasten my seatbelt....habit...

like lights on when raining, to be seen. I started doing it back in the 80's when some 4 wheeler said they never saw me coming. broad daylight, big white FLD.
