Well thanks fellas, I see that them Kenworth are the bomb in a good way. I hear a lot of great things about em but honestly I’m looking for an otr rig. Will a d13 with an i shift really be that much harder on my pocket book?

Also if I’m getting a big long hood I think it’s gotta be an fl classic. I love the way they look. But I’m a big fan of the 780 Volvo all that space in the sleeper would be a great thing to have

Freighliner does not build their own rearends, they use the very same brands that KW, Pete, Western star, etc does, and the same sizes, it just depends on how the truck was speced. You may have bought a cheap speced truck, built for light loads, but it has nothing to do with the brand of truck. Freightliner also specs as heavy of heavy haul trucks as any other brand, just depends on what a guy buys.

    Lol so much misinformation.

Reason you see lighter rears and specs on Volvos and Freightliners is because most companies buy trucks to pull a 53 foot box on smooth pavement. You want a Cascadia or Volvo with a 3/8" thick frame, 46k lb rears, big engine, heavy steer axle etc? Go order it.

They may not spec a cascadia like that.
From what I am gathering they even have plastic floorboards, which break, just plain throw away trucks, it seems like.

Actually Detroit, owned by Daimler, does manufacture it's own rear ends. But still most are Eatons or Meritor, something you can spec in any truck.

Yea, mack has there own rears too, but not all macs run them either. I am not familiar with detroit rears, are you sure they are not like the old international rears, just rocks with their name on them, and just enough different bolt spacing to keep from using any other.

Please don't listen to people who don't drive.

I have four long nose trucks left in my fleet, I want to get rid of them but they are working and making money.

One was in an accident, a MONTH waiting for a hood and other cab parts from KW, that means that truck is down for a MONTH. I would expect this from freightliner on their older trucks but kw on a 2018 .... nope.

x1Heavy, Bean Jr. and FlaSwampRat Thank this.
