I drive for Test Drive Trucking. Trucks are set at 75. With a new International I average 6.5 miles per gallon. We run Texas, a little CO, into FL and the Carolinas.

If only I could go faster I would make more money.

I went from a company where I go 68 mph on cruise to one where I can only go 62 on cruise. I went from 2800 miles per week to 2400. I make the same amount. The last company had me sitting in truckstops 12-14 hours a day and this one has me rolling after 10. It isn't how fast you drive or how long you're break that determines yours miles. Physics need not apply.

So if you went 75 mph, only sat 10 hours in a truck stop and went 3500 a week how much would you make?

    Asking for a friend....

You are comparing 2 different companies at 2 different speeds. That doesnt really tell ya the story. All things being equal, a driver who can run a higher speed should make more money. But all other things must be equal. And when comparing 2 different companies with different mileage pay structures, all other things are not equal. And if being able to drive faster does not make you more money, it should, at least, allow you more time a day to sleep. Which has a proven safety benefit.
