As I was driving along I 70 today I saw them taking the 55 signs down. It made me feel like a Georgia Pacific paper CEO watching the Amazon forest being cut down. I was grinning from ear to ear. I spoke with a trooper at a rest area and he said it was up to the county road commissions to take down the signs. So some might go down faster and if it is still posted 55 the speed limit is still 55. Although he said they (OHP) will not be pulling drivers over for that.

Does Ohio, or any state, release data about money collected from tickets?
It would be interesting to see a breakdown of how much and for what offense thes tickets were wrote. Esp. now that more and more states are going broke.
I am also curious to hear the opinions of the LEO's that contribute on here.
are states turning to you to generate more $?

going 65mph well ok 63 in ohio without fear of a ticket is the greatest thing that has happened this year. now if they can hurry up and get the ezpass on the turnpike then i would be all set.
parts of 475 are ever 65mph

in conversations with 2 different toll collectors a T-13 (exit 187 i think for the benefit of drivers who dont remember the old numbering system on the Ohio tpk), they were told Oct-Nov this year is the anticipated time frame for EZ Pass to go on-line. The union that represents the toll collectors are not real happy about this as alot of people will be let go. As much as I hate to see anyone lose their jobs due to automation, this upgrade is a much needed improvement. It is my understanding that their union has been fighting this off for some time now. so I w told.

that makes sense now. i was wondering what was taking ohio so long on upgrading to ezpass. the number of truckers that will run it will go up quite a bit. i agree it does suck that somebody will lose their job but i hate having to route around it because my company only uses ezpass and wont pay for any other toll

I have been hearing this crap about OH going to 65 for trucks for years, and I used to get sucked into it, but no more!

Fool me once, your fault, fool me twice, my fault!

You have to get up pretty early in the morning to fool me, anymore!!

A driver told me last night Illinois was raising their speed limit up for trucks to 65 as well, in August. Please some one tell me that is true. Lie to me if you have to...

Yeah, but IL will let you run pretty close to that, anyway. At least in my experience. I used to start sweating when I crossed the OH line.
