No core on brand new china shoes. I believe they where called silverback. The shoes themselves just cheap, I didn’t do a full inspection on them when I removed them, but they where built to hold one pad and that’s it. I don’t know if Haldex put their pads on them or not.

And I have a couple brake comparison charts at work. If I don’t get slammed as soon as I open the door, I’ll get them posted here.

I think what you are getting into partially is hardness of competing substances.

Example if you had a sharp diamond (Or even a dull one) you can cut glass and grind concrete. Lime stone will fail before Granite does and so on.

In my time some drivers were lazy and trollied all day so they don't have to spend a dollar on their own tractor brakes. And thus the company ran a 4 week fleet check on all flatbeds and found a percentage to contain unsatisfactory or damaged drums. (Glazing, cracking systematically, grooves etc.)

To some trolley is a lever that controls trailer brakes only for a variety of very good and useful reasons mounted on the steering column for you to play with.

One thing to consider, are Q plus shoes. If available for your Truck, thicker linings, make sure you get the s cam rollers, as their different.

    #### the detail is good here. I was going to say...

Thats one reason you know this and I do not. I have never been any good at the smallest of details capable of wrecking the whole install or function.

I called the parts place. They weren’t sure what they sold me 2 yrs ago, but now have brand new haladex,4707 Qplus, $65.00 no core. From what I found, haladex like meritor both have the anti rust jack treatment, probably powder coating? What seemed like something new,I’d read about a few yrs back, has actually been 10 yrs. since 2009. Where does the time go?

All the work you’ve done, it will be a nice ride. Don’t forget some chrome polish and chicken lights, Lol.

I actually prefer matte charcoal, minimum incandescent lighting of the old school as prescribed in the green book of regulations. No more. If the load in the trailer requires it to not be noticed.

Well this year I'm really looking forward to getting rolling and getting through the winter.

Next year though I definitely would like to paint my truck. I could see some polish, but I'm not a chicken light guy, LOL.

And I checked with Freightliner and they are sending me genuine Meritor brake shoes. And the price was right!

    You are good with those!
I thank I stated incorrectly and the HD1 is more aggressive. No one corrected me?
There is a lot of confusion on Q and Q Plus shoes. The cams are different for Q and Q Plus shoes. The width in the center of the cam is different. One is 1 1/16. The other is an 1 1/8 or one inch. When you mix match cams and shoes you can have problems.
Several years ago I was told standard Q cams were no longer made. When you buy new cams for old style Q's you will have to upgrade to Q+ and pay for the cores. I replaced cams and installed Q+ shoes. The brakes would lock up when trailer was empty. Found the new cams were for standard Q,s and had to replace the shoes. Their are gauges to check the cam width and distance between rivets for correct application. Watch out and take nothing for granted.
