Can a clear title be created from a salvage title, or is it dependent upon the state in which you reside? In my case, it's Texas.

I know in Massachusetts if you go through a special inspection. With all the repairs and new parts itemized and written down, with receipts. You can get a rebuilt title. It's a lot of work and a pain in rear to do, but can be done. Best bet is call your local dmv and ask. Up here the state police have a special inspection unit dedicated just to rebuilt titles and kit car inspections.

Reminds me of my younger days; buy a total wrecked car from a junk yard, then use that title on a stolen car from another state. Take the title to the DMV and get a license plate. Even the town mayor did that in my little country town in Tennessee. Went all the way to Texas to steal a car that matched the title of the totaled car. Probably be hard to do that these days.
Some used them for moonshine running.FlaSwampRat, D.Tibbitt and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -

Ok...I learned from DMV that a salvage title runs for the life of the vehicle.

If I needed a clear title, I would turn it in with the others when I crushed, then call in and tell them I turned the title in by accident, and they would always send me a new clear title. lolRideandrepair and Chinatown Thank this. -
