#### skippy! I have a 1991 379 and I pull containers from the port. Im home every night. I work when I want and dont have to explain to management. I can customize it as I see fit. Best of all, no DOT or scales to deal with.

 

Sometimes trucker math can get a little fuzzy too, simply because some have zero idea what they’re actually making. We had a guy come on a month ago when a new trailer was delivered who said “he better be able to keep me over 3.00 all miles because I was doing that easy with my reefer”. Fast forward to last week when I saw him at the shop and he said “this is the best money I’ve ever made”.

 

I see that TMC sells 3 year old Peterbilt 579s, 500K miles, for about $55,000-$60,000. Given additional repair expense savings, is this preferable to a brand new truck under factory warranty with a $2500 payment? A youtube guy I've been watching has a similar Pete, paid for, and seems to make really good money from his O/O videos.

 

TMC doesn't have APUs on their trucks meaning its constantly idling... I'd be very leery about buying a used truck from them.
