Your right, and your not playing the race card. They don't particularly care for blacks there and you are aware of it. Kudos for understanding your environment. Generally in these places they won't bother a man working no matter what his color as long as your not hitting up Tracy at the local convenience store. Of course it still exists and is a shame, just not as bad as it once was.
You have educated many on what a sundown city is. I'm white, and Memphis is my sundown city. Lol

All these tough truck drivers are scared to go to towns like Gary and Chicago but the second a black dude doesn’t want to go to a known sketchy town for black people watch out, he’s playing the race card and liberal media has warped his mind.

Fox News said racism is dead so it’s dead.

Someone comes on this thread asking for advise about going into an area he feels unsafe, he gets chastised for it and then the same people that give him flak also have their knees start knocking when they have to go to the suburbs of Chicago. Christ give him some advise and give your collective balls a tug TR you wanks.

OP try to do your stops in the daytime in areas you don’t feel comfortable in. Your risk goes down significantly. If you still don’t have a talk with safety and dispatch about not delivering in that area again.

My folks still live in Memphis basically and I’m there a lot. You’ve always gotta be ready to bust a cap in a hustler if the situation should present itself.

No that is not the answer. A gun? Please. If something is going to go down, itll go down gun or no gun. Anyway, to the OP.......turning down loads isn't the answer either. You dont want to be a dispatchers nightmare. You can plan to travel there in daylight. Get as close as you can then travel there in the morning. Park somewhere that's lit up. Call ahead, and ask if there is safe parking in or around the city if you need to take a ten. Most importantly, get the perception of cities out of your head because there will be times where you will go to cities are that dont have the greatest reputations in the world. Also, it never hurts to have the non emergency number to call the law and just have them drive around there periodically. Their presence can prevent a lot of stuff from going down. You will be ok no matter where you go....use your head, not force.

Pulaski TN is a nice small town. I grew up near there in Murfreesboro. Sometimes I think that's what causes negative perceptions about certain areas, are the stories that are spread from person to person. I now live in Memphis and i admit it does get rough around the edges, but you gotta keep to yourself and not trust anybody. I've delivered in just about every rough major city, many times. You get in, you get out. Truckers are really supposed to be confined to warehouses and or truck stops. Where they go wrong a lot of times is going where trucks have no business being
