I agree with Muskie. Have you talked to Tony? He’s also in charge of driver relations. He’s constructive. He answers only to the big boss.
Magnum needs a real safety department.

Wow. This doesn't make sense at all. If you were his first trainee as a company I would be looking at him if he's trainer material. That's a lot of problems to have the first day with your first trainee. Unfortunately it sounds like this trainer may not be interested in training to teach anyone, he's just for the pay increase. Did he tell you what you were doing wrong and try to correct you on the first trip? It would help to know what was said and if there was any attempt to train in the 400 miles.
I would think at the least they'd have you go with an experienced trainer to let them evaluate you before just terminating you. If an experienced trainer doesn't have an issue with you and you get upgraded to solo status the new trainer would be done training and maybe more.
How much experience driving does this new trainer have? Magnum has always sounded like a good company to get a start at. This gives me some pause.
I also will add, I probably wouldn't do well with the racist comments if they were as far flung as you say they were. There's no place for that crap. If that's so he's not a fit trainer for anyone no matter their race. He's a potential lawsuit waiting to happen.

    Good luck Metal Cowboy

It looks like I'm going back to Magnum.
The Oil Fields. Yes the money is there. But the demons are extremely aggressive. I don't need that S! I made $560 the other night. It ain't worth it. Asked to be moved from my slip seat to another. Nothing done. I just don't need this. There are more important things in life than money. They don't stand a chance in hell of understanding that. They can't help but allow the god of this world in their hearts through loving money.
The Culture at Magnum is great. I'm hoping I've made a strong statement on Safety. Hopefully something will be done to make Safety less insecure. That's the only problem. They're insecure.

Manage your expectations and you should be fine, honestly Magnum is the way they are, find the sweet spot with relations in dispatch and the shops and life is pretty smooth. So long as you can deal with slower trucks and the occasional sitting, you should with your knowledge be able to fly under the safety radar...good luck!

Heck, sitting should be fine now that they upped the pay from $75 to $150. Seems like they fixed everything that bugged me. Never had issues with safety so dunno.

My issue was not giving me the drive cam video on my ticket. It was a setup. Yes... I should fly under their radar. Use my own drive cam. It will record when the truck is off and I’m sleeping. Co. Drive Cam won’t.

I have found my sweet spot. Name is : Kayleigh and her magic wand.

Ya gotta admit Ray. Part of why you still post here is memories of a great company. Great culture there. I loved it. Never denied that to anyone. Coon Rapids was like coming home.

Thank you Winny. Helping me from the start. I could make more money. But can’t work with better people.

I spoke to Tony today to get up to date on how much I would be paid per mile.
Tony said the average length of haul is 1000 miles?
