Most states exempt interstate trucks and trailers from sales tax.

if you can work it out with the dealer you can work the sales tax and crap into the payment of the truck. And you won’t even notice it.

I’m not an accountant but this doesn’t make sense to me...... adding the sales tax and misc. into the payment is adding more finance charges as well. Just saying ....

It’s getting paid eitherway once you’re approved for a loan for a set price and all is said and done they can still add the whatever % into the price and you sign the dotted line.

Actually you don't If you purchase the truck out of state and are using it for interstate commerce you must show proof that the vehicle was purchased out of state, the first load was picked up and delivered out of California and the fuel was purchased out of California. Go to the franchise tax board website, there is a list of requirements. Also if you purchase the truck out of state and register it out of California, they will never know about it.

How can you pick up and deliver a load out of state if the truck is not registered?

. Ok obviously you will pick up the truck out of state, register it and then start your trip from that state without first coming back to California. I picked up the the truck in AZ and registered it in MO started my first trip from AZ to MI

Dealers have drivers that transport the truck out of state. You will sign a document that shows receipt of the truck out of state that will be notorized.

I was thinking that DMV will ask for the sales tax when you go to register the truck.
So if I buy a truck in CA the dealer can deliver to AZ. Then I’ll register the truck in CA without having to pay sales tax, pick up a load in AZ and deliver in NV and I’m all set.
Just trying to figure out this process so I don’t have to pay 8+ % sales tax.
I’ll probably be better off using one of the registration services that have done this before.
Last time I bought a truck the guy just gave me a paper that the truck was delivered to NV and a registration service took care of the rest, but that was long time ago.
