I was filled with fear and wanting to escapeI I pushed back on the animal skins which covered me, but, the old man - wrinkled and covered with some kind of paint or tattoo - smelling unmistakably of mesquite - quelled my movement by placing his had firmly on my chest and indicating with a sushh that I remain lying down and quiet. He then placed his hands over my eyes indicating that I close them and began a chant which eased my mind and comforted me. I listened and after a while I couldn't resist peeking. To my horror he appeared as an owl. His touch reaffirmed my need to remain calm. But when I glanced again he appeared as a wolf. Again, his hand gestured that I comply and stay still.

We then rose high above the field and journeyed into the stars. I gazed on things I can only describe as wonderous. I asked how is this possible and abruptly found myself on my back in the hut all alone.
