They have 2 packages you can choose. One is no cost to you with a little higher co-payments and a smaller network of doctors to choose. The other, you pay a minimal amount and have lower co-payments and a wider network of docs to choose from. Its really good insurance. Between the pay and the benefits and pension, guys will work whatever schedule they have to just to keep a good thing going. The company knows that, too.

Agree, I could have been potentially affected by a scenario like that if that was the case, had a city p&d that transferred to line, and he has about a month of company seniority on me, but he is under me on line board now, if it was the other way, I would never move up.

Does SAIA list seniority transfer with you to a different terminal or do you go to the bottom when you transfer?

Ok this is how I understand it, if it's a inter terminal department transfer, example p&d to linehaul or vice versa, the individual goes to the bottom of board and remains there and has to work their way back up, but their company seniority remains for vacation picks. Now on a terminal to terminal transfer, the individual goes to the bottom of the board as well, but come next rebid they are permitted to bid and then rewarded the bid based according to their company seniority standing, and I think that includes vacation picks, so basically a dovetail, what I don't know is if the driver was a p&d driver at their previous terminal and then transfers to the next terminal into a line position if the same still applies or if they go to the bottom permanent like a inter terminal transfer, because that would be a combo terminal and department transfer, in any case yes you always keep company seniority, but not always board seniority, as far as I know.

This is one thing that I like about FXF's seniority setup, where your company seniority in effect only counts on vacation picks and the rare dovetail scenario when a hub or service center incurs a "change of operations" (usually merging two terminals or something like that together, in which case anyone who transfers into the new facility is placed on their P&D or linehaul list by company seniority), which I know @MACK E-6 hates and thinks is stupid.

Granted, no one in their right mind is silly enough to dream of relocating and seeking a gravy run in the Northeast (short of the one or two meet runs in service centers or several day time meets that are in hubs), but those guys in the relay yards in say Aurora, NE have significant protection against a guy like me that hates living in New England (native southerner) saying F' this noise and relocating to simpler pastures for better money.

Here you go McUzi, I should have just put this up, but I thought about it after the fact, it's discussed in the 2nd to last paragraph. Screenshot_20190921-194831_Drive.jpg

This might ruffle some feathers on here, but while I do understand time with the company and seniority and all that, my belief is that all transfers should go to the bottom period, only because it was the personal choice of the individual to transfer to begin with, the employees at the terminal the individual is transferring to had nothing to do with it, so why should they be affected or in a round about way of putting it, penalized by being bumped, now as far as terminal mergers due to closure, yeah I think the dovetail in that sense is fair, and best way to go about it.

Why should each individual get to treat itself like its own company when the paychecks of every one working there are still signed by the same person?

Of course you’d move up. It just wouldn’t happen overnight like some drivers seem to feel entitled to.

Out of roughly 70 drivers at my barn I’m now at about #12 after 14 years, with 3 linehaul guys above me and the rest are city.
