Truck stops are concrete evidence truck drivers cause many of the problems that make this job so hard many days. You have to be a special kind of selfish and lazy to toss your trash on the ground, illegally park, park at the fuel pumps, drive 300 miles in the middle lane, etc.

    Choose safety. Be professional.
Always take the high road, in any situation. Be professional.
Make good decisions. Bath regularly, at least every other day, wear clean decent clothes, park where it is appropriate (not on fuel islands, etc). Do not deposit urine bottles, bags filled with feces, and other trash in inappropriate places. Be professional.
Conduct yourself in a friendly, charming manner with shippers, receivers, dispatchers, wait staff, etc.. avoid profanity. Be professional.
Remember the five P’s of success.....Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance. Be Professional.

I could go on and on. Be professional.

Right. I like to think that dressing like one has a purpose in life goes a long way toward dispelling that sort of opinion.

One of my mentors was fond of saying "slow down, we're in a hurry". In the sense of "slow is steady, steady is fast".

Truth in that. Steady, consistent, smoothly, makes the miles go by.

Never get in a hurry for anything. In the heat of rush, rush rush, that when things go bad.
