You state DQ’d for other than reasons. How about an example of a disqualification you’d need guidance on.

Your patients first option is to get a second opinion. As long as they disclose what they originally DQ’d for.. They cannot just Dr shop until they get a positive outcome.

 

I thought if there was a vision problem u had a certain amount of time to see an optometrist before failing

 

Went to dot examiner on Thursday no go called from his office got appointment at optometrists Monday soonest. He said reading 20/40 but glasses wouldn't improve. Battery acid one eye years ago. Called examiner Monday he said go to DMV read there so did she said reading 20/40 bad eye so ok ask for my license she put info in said license cdl no good he sent dq in Thursday. So now gotta take all test over if want it back

 

Just so I understand, you went for the DOT Med on Thursday and failed the eye exam. On Monday, you went to the optometrist and have 20/40 in the bad eye. A call back to the DOT Med examiner and they directed you to go to the DMV?? On a failed DOT Med??

There's got to be a missing piece here... why would they send you to the DMV with a failed DOT Med?? Either they don't know how the system works (not comforting/qualified), or the person wasn't aware of your failed medical (they don't or didn't look at your situation/chart).

Who is the examiner? It's probably a place drivers would want to know about so they can avoid issues of their own.

 

He said if DMV & optometrists said I passed then he would but in mean time he sent the fail electronically to state on Thursday after I left. I thought 20/40 in bad eye was passing.

 

Both eyes open can read bottom of chart been at it 34 years & only 1 overload ticket.

 

Why would a doctor refer you also to the DMV for an eye test, and then sign off on it?? The eye test at the driver's license office (at least here in Texas) isn't what I'd call an accurate assessment by any stretch, and I doubt the clerks behind the counter have much more than a basic understanding of the machine's operation. If the optometrist cleared you, I'd think that would be all you'd need to have the examiner pass your medical. I may be missing something, this just doesn't make sense.

Your examiner... I guess there is truth in advertising; that a Dr.'s office is called a "practice".
