Let's do the math. √(138^2+51^2) = just over 9 inches decrease in clearance to the cab in the turn. That is, of course, if the load is all the way to the edge of a 102" trailer and 10' overhang on an 18" kingpin.

Math with letters gives me headaches.
Crank it off to a 45 and get out the tape measure. The taller the load and head rack/sleeper the more extra inches you need going through dips.
Oversize overhang is no different. Hang the tape parallel to the trailer the same distance the load overhangs.

I could make a quick calculator in php if you want. Just go to a web page and enter the numbers. I've been looking for something to do and those are typically pretty easy projects.

I see what you are saying, but the overhang does not move that much. The only trailer I have owned with an 18 in kingpin was a stepdeck, with 3 foot pullouts on the front for hauling vehicles, I barely had room on my international to put a vehicle up there and never touched anything.

I used to pull a live bottom, open top van that had a deep king pin setting and a catwalk on the front of it. I had a short, too short old A model, and had no choice but to take the headache rack off to even hook up. It would and did get into the sleeper when on an incline, or crossing a ditch, but on flat ground we were fine.

Look at it. Multiple sizes, only putting force on the top pieces. I saw pieces bouncing on all of the lower levels as he was going across the lot.

Well, from the looks of that I’d call it a safe bet that there’s pieces on top with no securement touching them.

LOL wow , im not even sure how i would secure that mess but it would definatly be with more than 5 chains. But technically it looks legal, if its 40ft or less, 5 chains will cover length and weight . but yeah i see what u mean now, looks like a accident waiting to happen. Hes 1 hard break from hanging his head on the end of that steel

That's why I absolutely hate doing structural prefab. The loader only cares that it all fits on the trailer. Not if it'll be securable.
