When fuel was $4.00/gl everyone was screaming about FSC. When fuel dropped to half of that price and the FSC % dropped so dramatically, that part of drivers compensation was forgotten about. On 06-29-09 DOE has fuel listed at #2.60/gl which means you should be recieving 27% FSC. Has the economy and un-employment become the latest excuse for shippers to not pay the FSC or worse yet the broker is using this excuse to once again take advantage of OO's. Anything over $1.10/gl entitles you to a FSC.
Are you still recieving your FSC or has the ecomomy become one more excuse to rip OO's off.

It's supposedly built into our rates. As low as they are don't know how that could be.
7mouths2feed Thanks this. -
thats exactly the kind of BS that has been pulled all along...
-
We are told before we book the load how much it is. AND its figured into the check after the brokers cut, so we get 100% of the FSC, they never have touched that.
Now when he was hauling cattle...... the broker took his % out of the total check, including the FSC. But...... he's a crook, so thats to be expected.7mouths2feed Thanks this. -
The bad thing is they have knocked my rates back to where they were 4 years ago. They still want you to believe the fuel surcharge is in it.

That list gives you an idea for the FSC if working directly with a Broker.
You can Hackle with the Broker on the fuel surcharge. If you feel it's too low, than by all means let the broker know this! Put your foot down.
When you do this, they may add on more., Sometimes they will call the shipper back( at least they say they do) and say you want more added on. We've done that already. Then the broker adds more onto the FSC ! Well how do you like that? The broker was dipping and licking his fingers from the pot!
But if you're working through a Trucking company/ Agent, there is no hackling to be done.. It's not the Shipper paying out low FSC,, but.
the Trucking Company holding on to the FSC.. because there is "NO Law" saying. "They must pay you the FSC"., It's up to the trucking company if they want to give it to you or not. Lot of times they hold onto some of it.
It's better working with the Broker, than with the Trucking Company.Last edited: Jul 6, 2009

They can't say the FSC is in your rate. When making up your settlement ,the FSC has to be listed seperately from your rate. -
Why is it ?
The shippers keep getting a bad rap?
It's not the Shippers making this economy bad... They are still Paying Out Dearly for their Products to be Shipped.!
I wish people/ drivers would realize this.. Point the finger at the Brokers and Trucking Companies !!7mouths2feed Thanks this. -
Roadmedic Thanks this.

I just said that above , there is No Law saying they have to pay you, Duh!
Reread his post again!!
On A settlement paper, it has to show the Rate separate from the FSC. This will tell you if you're getting the Fuel Surcharge.
Reread the Posts Eskimo.
