Just wanted to wish ya'll a safe and happy Independence Day.
Gonna be (like many others) spending the holiday in a truckstop, but hey, it's the nature of the beast. Picking up Monday afternoon SE of Atlanta and headed back out to Wisconsin.
In the meantime, I am going to take this time to do some work on Tater's "honey-do" list, work on the computer, and catch up on some rest.

Hey there Scooterdawg,
I have been on here from time to time just reading and enjoying all of the updates and your adventures on the wide and not so wide open roads. Glad to hear that everything is working out great for you. I have been working local mail runs on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday's in the evenings driving a freightshaker with Eaton fuller 10 speed and keeping my skills up to par.
And at the same time I got hired on Monday thru Friday in the A.M. working as shipping and receiving manager with a great company. So I am doing fairly well atleast the bills are getting paid, My heavy equipment company has not even started to calling anyone back to work, so I guess this is what I will do for now to earn a living, until times get better.
Just wanted to jump in here and let you know that I have not forgot about you and I am here reading and smiling just like alot of others are doing. Good to hear from you and keep yourself safe out there, and enjoy the time that you have with your family. Being away from your family is truly a big price to pay to make a living. But your just like me, a man takes care of his family no matter the sacrifice. Being in the Military for so long some would think it would be easy to be away from family, for me it was the opposite I enjoying being able to be home every night and watch my little one grow up, since I missed so much of my oldest growing up.
God Bless, and can I get a hell ya, from a Ex-Military brother? keep safe out there.
Jack

Hell, I thought you fell off the face of the planet. Tickled to see you're still around. Even more tickled to know that things are going well for you. It makes all the difference in the world when money is coming in, doesn't it?
Good to hear from you buddy!!!! -
Well it has been a while since I have posted anything about what has been going on with Tater and I.
We spent the weekend in Madison, GA waiting to pick up a load Monday at 330pm. No biggie. Gave me time to relax, got to work on Tater's "Honey Do" list, AND I pretty much finished the book. What book? It is called "How to Survive Becoming a Truck Driver". Not really all that big.... 64 pages.
I had a few people including Linda, The Trainer (Kurt - My Trainer) and LuvTheRoad look over it and see what they thought and make suggestions. And there were a few. Right now I am in the stage of re-reading it. But it contains a bunch of information about how to get started, picking a school, picking a company, what to expect when you first get out there, and some tips about weigh stations, truck stops and other things that you really need to know when you get started that they don't necessarily teach you when you go through school. But it was a lot of fun to write.
So right now I am back in Lowell, IN, staged to deliver in Sturtevant, WI tomorrow am. From there, I am supposed to run up to Milwaukee, pick up a load, run it over to Minneapolis, and then they are trying to get me to Fargo so I can get my PM1 done on Tater. Then if all works out, I'll leave Fargo with a load for NC, deliver Monday and then go home for a couple days.
Yesterday I was sort of miffed. Got to the shipper ahead of my appointment time, but due to delays at the guard house and whatever, I go to the "other warehouse" after the appointment. The guy there said I was late, which I explained to him, but he was somewhat of a simpleton, and I don't think it registered. So I sat in the parking lot for 5 hours. Then this other guy came out and was headed for another truck and I called him over to ask him how much longer, because I saw other trucks that had arrived after I did that were getting loaded. He tells me "Well they were all here on time".
And the fire of Zeus flew into me. It was then that I realized that I had been put in "Time Out" for being late, when indeed I hadn't been. He tried to argue this with me, up until he realized that he had just climbed all over my last nerve. I made him (yes, made him) climb up in my truck and I showed him my electronic log. Then I informed him that the log doesn't lie. The next words out of his mouth? "Go ahead and back up to #36". I did and was loaded in 40 minutes. (I did however get to watch a few episodes of the West Wing on DVD..... funny show)
I was hoping to hook up with Red Fox afterwards, but by the time I got out of there, it was late, and I needed to beat feet for a truck stop before all the slots were gone.
Red, I tried to call you but got your voice mail immediately. I'll make it up to ya brother..... just not sure when.
Anyway.... that's all the news that is news. Early morning tomorrow so I shall bid Adieu!

First time posting and to just say to you SooterDawg thanks for all the great post. My Question is what is the haring area for Magnum?

Oh, hey..... Loved Resaca! Excellent coffee!!!
Well sounds like I am going to Minneapolis with this load, then shooting back to Carolina for some hometime. Dispatchers are working with me to get this 10,000 under my belt before the end of the month!
Have I mentioned that I love driving truck?
