Another Covenant owned poorly run company, to say the least. Recruiter in particular has jerked me around for 1 week now only for me to finally get the truth out of her Friday. I've been doing my own personal business on a cash basis for the last few years (non DOT). I have client phone numbers for contact to verify employment which is DOT legal. I am looking to get back on the road but need to go with a trainer for a few weeks. This woman told me i had to have written letter's from clients not phone numbers. She would not tell me how many no matter how much i asked the amount. Multiple times i asked to speak with her manager, safety, a processor. Would not connect me with anyone. If you call there you are instantly transferred to your recruiter. Finally told me yesterday after me getting pretty ill in the last conversation, i need 20 letters all hand written & signed. Needless to say conversation ended with me laughing & saying thanks so much for all this wasted time, do your job better! Advise to avoid places like this to not get jerked around 3 ways till Sunday. Not worth it!

i would have "made up" the letters, mailed them to her via certified mail with a note included, saying to her, "here are your requested 20 letters, now stick them up your private parts"....

and in fact, truth be told, that's EXACTLY what i had to a Freymiller FEMALE recruiter to do, many years ago, when i was turned down for a lease/purchase deal, where I HAD the money for a SIZABLE lease/purchase on a NEW truck...(with the exception of the 20 letters, she did not request that)..

to this day, i'd NEVER give Don Freymiller the time of day, he can go suck an egg thru a straw

Even being an employee at CTG, I've never heard any good about Landair. You would've had better luck with Star. At least you get holidays. I on the other hand work for the redheaded step-child of CTG so I can't say that I'm anywhere better to say the least. When I ended up here, my recruiter (female also) didn't ask for all of that b/s. As a matter of fact, she ran my DAC report and invited me to orientation. I've been here nearly 2 1/2 years and it has its ups and downs. So I call b/s on her claim of needing 20 hand written letters. I've never known any company to ask for that, not even my first (Stevens Transport). Sounds to me like you actually dodged a bullet. Can anyone here tell me when "needing handwritten letters" actually became a thing and where in the FMCSR it is located?

Why get hung up on a tree when you can run through the forest?

I know it has nothing to do with DOT or FMCSR. It's their way of brushing someone off by jerking them around. Another Covenant group joke.

i fully agree with you. i went to hell and back, trying to get on with Freymiller as a l/o..they wanted to put me into an older truck with the mileages on them starting at 600,000, and i said NO FRICKING WAY, I can put down money on a NEW truck"..

gal told me, "no, you have to get into an older truck".....as it was (if i recall) i had at the very least 10 years experience and great credit. no way, no how was i gonna be strapped into an OLD truck with high miles and soon to be HIGH repair bills..

then wouldn't you know it, Don Freymiller HIMSELF, had co-signed the leases of anyone wanting a truck..!!

then a few months, maybe a year later, something went wrong, he either filed bankruptcy (or not) and he moved all his operations to another state.

this is why he (Don Freymiller) can ask me for the time of day, or a dollar for a cup of coffee, and i'd tell him to go "off himself"...

yes, this is what many do if they just don't want you. move onto another company. the old saying, "things happen for a reason", take that to heart, someone was sending you a message......that something better is about to come thru for you.

I rarely see any landair trucks anymore.
Used to see them all the time.
    Aren't they all owner operators.
