Sometimes it's hard to appreciate such things unless you can remember what it feels like to have pegboard slam the top of your head while driving a Mack cement truck. This Apu was literally life changing for me for otr.
If you own the truck it's a no brainier. If the money doesn't work out, your not making enough money.

I don't even know how many thousands of hours I've put on mine.

Multiply that by gallons of fuel not used and hours not on engine, idling hours too, it's another one of the hugest no brainers in trucking.

If i ever get a truck it will definatly have apu on it ! My boss says the same things as txcountryboy say. "They arent cost effective" . to me it seems a no brainers considering an emissions failure is gonna cost the same to fix as putting in an apu

That may depend on where you run?

Once I started staying mostly on in the western 5 (WA, OR, CA, NV, UT) the APU was less important and a couple of high volume computer case fans worked sufficient for me. Any time I would really want an APU (usually in Vegas) I would usually just get a room (The casino in Jean was normally under $40 per night). I figured 5 years of hotel cost would be less than the purchase price of a used APU with install. I also made sure there was more than enough money to cover hotel bills if the load went someplace that was too hot.

IKR? ... what's new. :( Had to work into Saturday, and tear my Jeep (well wife's apart) and got a stuck lugnut so ordered an Eastwood (and went ahead and bought a torque wrench from there as well, ya know.. mine's 'oldish' ... ;) )
