Hey just started working thru a contractor who runs FedEx ground doubles. I acquired my CDL through their school which is FedEx certified. After graduating I was offered a job in their ground division as a entry level driver. I have a 6 month probation time where I'm driving with a trainer. My offer is 17 cpm. And 17 cents per diem. After reading some other posts, this pay sounds pretty low, am I correct? I honestly do not like pulling doubles. More specificly hooking them up. I'd like to pull just a single 53 it'd make me alot More efficient as that is what I was trained in CDL school. Lastly I was not given all the pages of my job offer and agreements that I was rushed into signing. I now have the complete copy of what I signed, in it states that termination of my position within 6 months i have to pay $2000? Supposedly for trainer costs, fleet maintenance, and fuel, etc. I've been on one run lasted 4 days. How can I be held to pay 2k for driving 4 days if I choose to terminate? Any insight will be very helpful and appreciated thank you for reading my newbie stupid post

    .17?

You are going back to the 70's Bud.

Wife and I were paid approx .75 to the tractor as team in 2000-2001 and for all the work we did only grossed about 67000 for the year. Granted we did things that normal teams did not. (Much...)

.17 is just too #### low. I made .48 solo at the end of 2001. I would expect .65 or more these days allowing for inflation. Or put another way 300 dollars gross per day or 30 a hour minimum.

No, he's being paid .34 cpm which is still low.
He doesn't want to pull doubles either, so he should find a new job and let the guy come after him. If it's a binding contract, which I doubt, he can whip out a credit card and be done with it.
    Raohstedd, where is your location?

Chinatown might have something for you. You got Potatos up above you to the North and god only knows what else towards Casper with the oil and such. Salt Lake is one of those hot spots for trucking.

37 cpm for doubles? Even being green that is nutty low ball pay. 45 to start I would think.

When will people learn that you never sign something that you do not understand fully - or with missing pages?!

I guess, after that first burn.

    Live and learn... hopefully?

Yeah I went thru with this job just because I liked the thought of having a trainer with me so as to learn as much as possible since I'm just starting into this career. But with how it works it's not as I expected. It's about keeping the truck moving, so I only have a little bit of time with my trainer and then he's gotta get to sleep. Even pulling off for my break is stressful as most truck stops do not have parking for doubles. So I'm left to the fuel line, which I hate, causes my chances of truck being messed with likely. Idk what I'm going to do now tho, I'm screwed for 6 months unless I can pay or get around this 2k termination fee that was hidden away in my job offer.
