BUS DRIVERS??????? WHAT THE $##!...

 

I was talking to a former Greyhound driver one day...

He was tired of talking cargo.

 

Driving a bus has to be interesting....ha ha ha. Just like driving a truck. Your freight is the people ours is cans, drywall, auto parts or what have you. $16 bucks an hour and home every night??? I'm driving the wrong vehicle. The $16 is about what I make (no more like $14) and at home, in bed with the babe, home cooking, stretching out on your bed. WHY are you questioning that position. I just might catch you at a terminal.

 

just went to hell???? Where have you been the past 8 years? Do you see the economic situation right now? I guess since we talking bout bush we get forgetful like smoking weed. Give our new President a CHANCE. We all gonna benefit.

 

I84work, Some of us didn't get the memo on drinking the "Obama Koolaid" so you can get over bashing Bush already. You had better "hope and change" that those people down in Gitmo and over in the Middle East don't strike us again or you will see an uproar in this country the likes of which all you "Bush Bashers" have never seen before!!! And you can take that to the bank if you dare....

 

Do 18 wheelers consider Greyhound drivers as truckers? I'm a Greyhound driver and I think we are very closely related. I have several which I'll list.

#1 We both are out on the road for days at a time ( heck even weeks sometimes )

#2 We both have to put up with D.O.T. and all of their b.s., log books, commerical vehicle inspection check points, medical cards, etc.

#3 We both transport cargo. Trucks may carry car parts, food, boxes, etc. But greyhound buses carry those things plus people! ( Yes, I'm out in the middle of now in 110 degrees loading a large bumper by myself )

#4 We both have to deal with ignorant 4wheelers driving crazy. Zooming to pass me only to then slow down.

#5 Dipatchers - Yes, you know where I'm going with this. Our dispatchers are just as bad as you guys worst. Sometimes it takes more THAN 2 hours to get to speak to one.

I got more but this list will do for now.

 

Well, personally I do. I mean you guys put up with many of the same problems that we do. I ALWAYS SHOW COURTESY TO YOU ALL WHENEVER I'M OUT THERE AND USUALLY WILL RECEIVE IT BACK. TAKE CARE AND BE SAFE OUT THERE.

 

There are many truckers who don't/won't consider a "public conveyance vehicle" (ie Greyhound, and other "charter" buses) a "trucker".

Yes, they both deal with dispatchers, schedules, and "STOOPID" 4-wheelers.

However, if YOU have to stop, you can "idle" to provide your "cargo" (people) A/C, heat.

When a trucker stops, in most states, now, they can NOT "idle", to provide themselves, passengers, or pets, A/C, or heat.

(Yes, I know, that is why many, not ALL companies are now installing APU's...but if that APU doesn't work, ya STILL have to let the engine idle to provide the AC/heat, which is illegal, and will get ya a HEFTY fine!)

Greyhound busses, and all passenger busses, are EXEMPT from the truck/car with trailer speed limit. WHY? you might ask? As one DOT officer told me, "because they have a schedule to meet". ??????

Like truckers DON'T have a schedule??
