This morning I woke up after a full blown Rhinoceros sleep at our yard in Fontana. It was 51°F fer Gawd's sake. I supplemented my stock of clothing from the trunk of my car, adding a couple of fire resistant Henley style full sleeve knit shirts and a couple of turtlenecks.

Good thing I did. I'm dispatched to pick up a flatbed load tomorrow morning, delivering near Bridgeport, CA tomorrow evening. It should be downright chilly the morning after delivery and I haven't yet fired up the Webasto in this truck.

I had the shop modify a couple of 8' 1/2" chains for me this morning, putting on some monster hooks on one end. That will make hauling AAV's easier (Amphibious Assault Vehicles). I have been throwing a total of 8 chains and binders on those, now I can cut it down to six. All I need is two more 1/2" chains to complete the plan.

When I woke up this morning The phone was claiming it was 28f. Didn't believe it till I had to scrape the ice off the windshield.

Okay. The reasons for staying at the Hat Six:

    It's an independent.

    The food is AWESOME.

They have things in the store you would have a hard time finding anywhere else.

The HUGE parking lot was recently replaced, with prestressed concrete. The parking spots are wide enough for oversized loads and most of them are pull throughs.

They have an actual bar, which has a "to go" window. Although the clearance is too low for a semi, perhaps they may make an exception for OM's To Go box...

I run that stretch nearly every week... Its good road all the way from I-15 to I-80... With the exception of the stretch through Georgetown, ID that they are currently doing something about. There are a few spots that can get a little nasty but nothing to get your drawers in a bunch about.

I know. I was there in July.

    Beautiful country.

CA-108 has a sign just west of US-395 warning truckers there's a 20`+ CLIMB a few miles ahead. I want to accept that challenge someday.

I haven't seen a temp above 60 in DAYS!!! And I'm loving it... Most of lastnight was in the 40s and today was mostly in the 50s. This is perfect temps for trucking... No need dor AC or heat while sleeping!!!
