Today dropped oil pen to check liners from underneath and found this little piece on the bottom, made out of steel. Does anyone know where it possible come from, what to inspect next???? Thanks

It sure looks like a tapered roller bearing though.
Not sure if an accessory drive on that engine uses tapered roll bearings?
Or maybe the water pump uses them?

Dowel pin is correct name for this piece of metal. Check it with file if metal is soft or no. Bearing roller has really hard surface. I don't familiar with Volvo engine but Cummins has some on oil pump and stiffener plate if memory still working good.
