Swift Regret

There is a section of interstate in Wyoming thats about 30 miles to keep a eye on. It's badly botched by our engineers who conceived it really poorly.

That and a personal limit of 60 mph winds is for me enough to stop at the Petro or Ft Bridger for a while depending on which way I am headed. I am more than happy to sit a wait during a formal storm on the Sherman Hill or some such.

Every time I have done that, dozens of blown over rigs confirm to me that it was a wise decision.

Just one little issue. If Big rigs are pulling off, what are those stupid little 4 wheel drives doing out there.(I own a 4x4 myself but frankly I just soon stay home with it.)

 

Congrats, Bud. I believe you did the right thing. Bounce before 'being' bounced. Good move, sir. I know; I've bounced from boxes to tanks to flats to tanks and back to boxes myself.

No advice on the chaining, but you're used to the PNW area; you'll be fine.

...As a side note I carry a set of Austrian ice chains... Its not difficult to chain the 4x4 as it would be a Semi. (I rather not...) if I had to put chain on to get the ex down to the VA in the worst of ice we can do it. It wont be pleasant or welcome. If we for her finances as a Vet did not live in fear of a Ambulance bill at 14.00 a mile for 110 miles round trip per call plus 500.00 we would have called them before for that.

We don't think Uncle Sam will cover that cost. Thats the problem despite constant promises that the Private Sector hospitals can take care of Vets just the same... (Ugh...)

The one time I had some trouble with internal medicine on humans was when my father was having to change dressings on my brother who had taken a arrow to the knee some time ago. The problem was there was some death of the tissue around or near the wound and it had turned green.

I don't know about you, but Nature is really good at making colors for things that really need to be cut off. This would have been in the late 60's and medicine was a bit barbaric compared to today.

Biggest issue I see with the drivers in my area is cell phones. Backing
requires your full attention. Of all the incidents we have had where I work
most are due to drivers on their cell phones while trying to do sensitive
things.

I remember one driver that had a number of "preventables"......he was on
his phone pretty much all the time. Last incident.....that got him fired......you
guessed it.....on the phone.
