I’m getting into a new Peterbilt 579 with X15 Efficiency @500hp, How has the X15 Efficiency series engine been for others so far? What should I be looking out for?
Did you read this thread from the beginning? You should have enough replies by now..... among other countless threads regarding the same question......
I can only help so much by my personal experience. But... 80k miles on the performance and flawless so far. Very happy.
I have a 2019 KW with the 505 performance X15 working in the oilfield so lots of idling. Just crossed 70K miles and so far no issues.
My mileage is way to premature but at 23k so far on my 2020 389 with the 100th anniversary edition x15 565/2050 I haven't had any issues. APU on my truck so no idling for my setup.
Yeah ... so far most people that have responded have the Performance series and they seem generally happy with it. My question was an attempt to get more responses about the Efficiency series, apparently fewer people have that here.
I have a 2019 Peterbilt 579 with the X15 E and I got it from the company when it had 1100 miles on it. Now I'm at 66,100 miles and the motor hasn't missed a beat. Regularly getting 7.5 mpg to 8 mpg when on really flat roads. Even running the mountains of PA I still can get 7 mpg because of coasting and how good the Endurant 12 speed is at low rpm .
I heard that Cummins is going to release a turbo compounding motor for the E series.... Anyone heard about this?
