Comparing Swift to UPS is dumb. One's a starter company, and one requires experience to be hired.
Need to compare Swift to Warner, Schneider and the like.

P.S. The UPS fatality is 1 per 48.6 million miles while the Swift is at 1 per 43.2 million miles driven as per saferweb numbers.
And that Carolina cargo is obviously the wrong one with only one driver.... Theirs is not really enough data to be accurate, but with 1 fatality and 12.8 million milers driven they are by far, by the numbers, worse than Swift by a factor of almost 4.

It is a high number in that span, but it's still lower than I thought.

I don't remember off hand but I did the math one time and when you look at miles traveled their numbers actually look pretty good. Especially when you consider the number of rookies they run through there.

Think of it this way, they have say 20000 trucks out there. So that's the same as a company with 200 truck having .4 fatalities in 2 years. That means a company with 200 trucks being involved in one fatal crash in 5 years is no more safe than Swift. And we all know that something like 70% of crashes involving a truck and a non cmv the fault lies with the latter.

So Ups has x5 more trucks but only x1.5 fatal crashes? Honestly I’m surprised these companies aren’t being shut down but I guess it makes sense when your that big of a carrier. So has the eld help? I’m sure all of their trucks are running eld and probably been for a while now, just curious ?
