That area has never had to support a ton of people and is more agriculture than anything else, so with the population they did have, it probably did not suffer as much as the more populated areas either, lots of folks in the midland /odessa, lost houses and businesses, so did houston and austin area. I remember a few big buildings built that were leased to businesses that folded before they ever moved in, and a few years later the owners started tearing them down, because of property taxes.
Are you up around the canadian area.?
We moved to eastern nm, not far from Amarillo in 74, I graduated in 76 and went to houston shortly after.
I moved back to 100 miles east of Amarillo in the late 80's and stayed around 20 years.Chinatown Thanks this. -

I have been in Texas last 7 years and so far the weather is amazing ppl friendly and there is tons of jobs they only down side is the traffic getting worst every day and getting more democrats as I called them snowflake lol if ya need more info pm

I have hauled out of the carbon black plant , and yes there is some industry there besides agriculture, but you mentioned three, not a lot and not near as much population as other places in Texas.
