So I’ve been awaiting approval on WIAO funding to go to trucking school. Back on Labor Day I was pulled over for going 72 in a 55 on I35 in Dayton, OH. I’m just now realizing that this charge will screw me out of getting on with most companies. Here’s the kicker. I was offered to take a remedial course to make it like the ticket never happened but it costed more than the actual ticket so I declined, not realizing it’s be such a hindrance. Any advice or input on my situation would be appreciated. Any companies that’d hire me in the Dayton area with this charge?

McDonald's waffle house Wal-Mart for the cart kid, if you have a 17 over on your record you don't need or want to pay for school !

17 over is bad news. Some companies will hire you, but don't know of any in Dayton area.
Contact www.americantruckinggroup.com and ask if they have any companies that will hire.

How many years would I have to wait for this charge to be off my MVR?

It will always be on your MVR, but companies have different policies as to how long before they will hire you.
Some will hire you the day you graduate and some after 12 mos. or even longer.
Shop around now and maybe luck out and get what you really want.

I just looked at Crum Trucking in Dayton website. It doesn't have what the requirements are or what disqualifies. This one is in Dayton. www.crumtrucking.com
That's one to contact & ask about "someone with a ticket of 72 in a 55."

I had a similar situation in Illinois, after paying ticket, I found out they have Traffic School. I called the traffic court, explained I wanted to attend Their course, Had it all set up, then found out my State wouldn’t recognize any traffic school, from CDL holders. It’s worth a shot. I don’t know about Ohio, but Illinois required I pay ticket either way, upfront. Might just work, explain you misunderstood. Otherwise a Lawyer may be able to get the case re opened. It’s possible here in Mi. But usually an expensive long shot.

Ok thanks Chinatown. So I’m assuming the speeding ticket is a liability because of what it would cost to insure me. I’ve seen a lot of companies requirements say moving violations etc within 3/5 years. Does this mean even if it was still on my mvr that it wouldn’t affect how much it’d cost to insure me after a certain allotment of time?

Gotta pay to play... lesson learned here is next time pay whatever you have to just to make it disappear...

So you don’t think it would be worth it to find a company that would hire me with the speeding conviction?
