it don't matter what anyone says. you can't be in this business and not haul for CHR. they are too big. They have decent loads and goodpaying ones too but the cheap is much more prevelant. And like everything else. Find one agent who is decent and work with them exclusively and you will get better loads from them

Out of maby 55 loads I never saw above $1.33 before deadhead. I would even call back repeatedly and get rates jacked up 10%-50%. The average for the last two months of running for them was about $0.77/mile.

Oh yea, I know of them. I have stayed away so far. Sounds like that was not such a bad thing after all.

Winchester Magnum brought up an idea that I actually tried a while back. Call up a broker and see what it costs to get a load moved. I did it with Panther Expediters, but I don't think they were so bad. They made maby $0.25 on the dollar, perhaps more at times.

I am going to pose as a shipper to CHR many different times in different locations for different freight. All this, when I get the time. I will show my reports when I am finished. Stay tuned!

Oh and PS.... when I am done with this report I will have a slew of shipper's contacts for you guys. All I ask in return is some new contacts of my own. It would be nice to have our own little black book on this forum, even if it is exclusive to PMs.

As far as what one broker takes versus another. I can tell u this earlier this week I was getting a load off the board 527miles and the broker I ended up taking it for paid $850 loadstar also had the load I called them first they were going to pay $650 I told the landstar guy there and he said oh well.I think it dont matter if the load was paying 100k they would all try to move it for 1pm if they think they can.

The sad fact is that there are so many fools out there that will take the freight for a dollar a mile! I won't touch anything that pays less than $1.55 a mile and I usually try to get more. I've been getting quite a bit of $1.75+ freight lately but I'm not impatient when I'm looking for loads...I take my time. I got a load out of Houston on friday that paid $1.55...Now that was a surprise! I'll deadhead before I'll haul that cheap crap!

I must be missing these cheap loads. Ive been calling brokers just to get a feel for it. Cheapest load i was quoted was a 1.50 from tql for seminole to syracuse. Hell Central Ref quoted me 1.70 for load out of hobbs. And i didnt even try to get a better price with any of them.
