Walking in front of some shops today I noticed some Christmas trees.. took pictures to show you folks how they look like here.. No real trees... nobody uses real Christmas trees here..

    20191026_145328.jpg

...these are artificial and the more colorful the better... Some are even multicolored artificial trees.. like silver or red or whatever with many ornaments...

I bet those trees are not for sale.. just the store decoration....

None of those repetitive old and annoying Christmas songs I hear in America either...

Got wide streets... If you should come by many wives, you could all walk downtown side by side.
    They say Ole Brigham did.

Sometimes I wonder. That one is probably in Africa or something by now if it is not in a junkyard.

But Dowdy handed that one to me and had his shop fix the chair and add a few things at his pocket cost and off I went. It was a good truck, just a little weak on the front end as always alignments and such. We had a episode with overheating over 2 weeks in three different states looking at it. They finally dug out the actual sensor from deep inside the block. Rusted all out. That settled her down nicely. But only cost like a few thousand. What a waste. Probably more due to not being able to haul time freight for that time.

Proposed to my spouse in there one time after dinner on a day off in Arkansas. She accepted. Its been near 21 years so far. A good year this one and a wondeful future, if I can get past the one doctors exam next month.

Hopefully call your B.S. and dispatch you to swap trailers here? Then ignore your calls to reload?

Store Details | Pilot Flying J

That's what I would do as your dispatcher..........

Whatever floats your boat brother. ;)

I said i wasn't hating. So don't worry no judging for me. Everyone has their priorities....mine just don't include expensive cups or Iphones. :) If yours do...more power to you, it's your bank balance, not mine.

Me? I'm a cheap son of a #####. I ain't paying "yeti" pricing. My 10 dollar bucket does just fine keeping my soda good all day. An I rarely pay for refills either.;) I also won't pay Iphone pricing, or any of that other stuff. Yet people look at me like I'm crazy, cause I won't pay 900 bucks for a phone, or 70 for a cup. It's all good, different strokes for different folks.

@x1Heavy Ocean City does do a good one. I've not been there in almost 4 decades though. Myrtle Beach I hear does a good one also, or did. My sandbar, Va beach, an whatever beaches the wife drags me to when we visit Fl are the only I go to these days. My Sister in Law hits OC, Md for the...Sun festival I think it is they do every year.

Seriously tho...It doesn't affect me, so I really don't care, but it boggles the mind at the cost of those Yetis .If I see someone it's not like I go yell at them for having one. I just go about my business, an let them enjoy their "Yeti". I also don't do starbucks. If that makes me weird...so be it.

Besides, the only coffee I like is with whiskey. :)

Carry on...whether in a Yeti or a solo, whatever you drink out of, is your choice.

Christmas Trees started in the 1500's era in Germany when the People brought in anything that was green through the winter to decorate their homes for the Christmas. Celebration of the Birth of Christ etc. However Martin Luther of the Reformation added candles after a walk home in stars and that did it.

However. In America most of the Nation thought it was a Paganism form until late in the 1800's when they finally started to adopt the trees themselves. In World War One both German front line troops and the Western Allies celebrated Christmas against orders on the front together.

Without getting too deep into Christmas, the tree is a decoration. The real meaning of Christmas is deeper than that for us all. I have tried to be careful and brief writing about it.

The Music is sometimes tiresome in that time because they constantly loop it 24/7 or mangle it beyond recognizing. I dont mind a little music once in a while. But the way the stores, industry and society just pushes christmas on all of us constantly before the Thanksgiving turkey had a chance to be cooked is just outrageous.

It is better to have artificial trees to celebrate, safer. We used real trees and if they were not watered and wired a certain way they become a fire hazard like you wont believe. Burn a house down in 10 minutes. Then they have to be sent to the curb so that city or county wood truck can throw it into the woodchip machine to make sawdust.

All I know is that winter is on us already if Wyoming is any example at all and its a time of battle. Christmas is just a moment to a specific purpose and we move into the new year after that. Not everyone celebrates that and thats ok.

Anyway thats the story of the tree. It's relatively new to the USA and not exactly accepted because the action of bringing in anything that is pretty and green all year dates before the Roman Empire. It is what it is.

I asked for Ulan Bator once. When questioned about it I replied

"Since you can't seem to get me back to company headquarters in time to see my friend before he ships out for the next year, I figured you could get me load to go see him".

I got a raise, and two weeks later a new glider.

As much as I hate to say it lol. Philadelphia is awesome for that kind of stuff. If you are into architecture the Masonic Grand Lodge is definitely a must see and worth a trip to the hostile city for.

Any city that has a Miss BumBum contest, is ok in my book. I'd post a pic but...I'm not sure the policy on nice looking ladies wearing thongs...

    :)

My wife had a co-worker from Brazil. Nice lady. Sadly she passed earlier this year unexpectedly. She always had good things an good stories about her homeland.

South America is quite beautiful. Sadly the majority of my fellow Americans only see the images of the crappy parts of Mexico, Brazil, and the rest of South America. I know people that have driven down into South America with RV's. They had nothing but awesome pictures an stories to share when they came back.

Enjoy the time down south @Rocks! Keep those pictures coming.
