I'll be the first to admit I most likely wouldn't enlist in the military willingly. For a combat role anyways. That's why I have so much respect for those who do.

While I feel that it would be good for the youth of our country to serve for at least a couple of years, I worry about having to build 5 new types of bathrooms on our battle ships etc. in order to appease the LBGTQRSWXYZ crowd, and that our fighting force may be compromised due to having to deal with all the politically correct stuff.
As long as we can adequately supply the needs of our Armed Forces with a volunteer force that wants to be there I would be in favor of leaving things as is. -

I was contemplating military service in high school, but parents pushed me away from it and into just getting my education. Kind of regret not going for it, but it's too late now. -
Who they are attracted to sexually shouldn't be a consideration for their service.
The Canadian Armed Forces AFAIK have been including everyone from all walks of life without much issue for decades. -
Despite the don't ask don't tell policy, there were quite a few people I knew during my 8 years in who were gay.
Not a one of them did their job any different than anyone else.
None of them were hitting on guys they knew were straight, and to be honest the women had to put up with far more creeper level ######## than any man did.
