I'll be the first to admit I most likely wouldn't enlist in the military willingly. For a combat role anyways. That's why I have so much respect for those who do.

He'll probably complain that it's not the right shade of green. No pleasing that guy.

I can see the benefits of both sides of this.

While I feel that it would be good for the youth of our country to serve for at least a couple of years, I worry about having to build 5 new types of bathrooms on our battle ships etc. in order to appease the LBGTQRSWXYZ crowd, and that our fighting force may be compromised due to having to deal with all the politically correct stuff.

As long as we can adequately supply the needs of our Armed Forces with a volunteer force that wants to be there I would be in favor of leaving things as is.

I got out right before Billy came out with his Don't ask, don't tell policy and for once in my life I was blessed with good timing. I was still in town where I got to razz my friend about how " back when I was in, that kind of thing wasn't allowed. It must be a whole lot different now with the next person over wearing high heels instead of flight deck boots ".

Mandatory service for the country should be standard, US and Canada, just like Israel. Doesn't need to be front-line military, but just a few years after high school in service to all citizens in some capacity.

I was contemplating military service in high school, but parents pushed me away from it and into just getting my education. Kind of regret not going for it, but it's too late now.

That's the thing though, people from the LGBTQ2+ community when joining the military just want the opportunity to serve. It's not like there isn't already problems with heterosexual male soldiers assaulting female soldiers. Unless they are a complete #######, they'll wear the uniform and do their duty. They are there for the same reason as anyone else.

Who they are attracted to sexually shouldn't be a consideration for their service.

The Canadian Armed Forces AFAIK have been including everyone from all walks of life without much issue for decades.

Despite the don't ask don't tell policy, there were quite a few people I knew during my 8 years in who were gay.

Not a one of them did their job any different than anyone else.

None of them were hitting on guys they knew were straight, and to be honest the women had to put up with far more creeper level ######## than any man did.
