I just came across this and I need to be up in a few hours so I can't read all the pages.

    This isn't true at all.

If they freeze my pay at, lets say 700 bucks a week (I make more than that)...then saying I won't be able to buy as much....well thats wrong. Because I've always been able to buy what Im buying now at 700 a week. It means I won't be able to buy MORE...because I won't get that raise which gives me more money.
If and when inflation happens...then I won't be able to buy as much stuff. But many companies are putting freezes on. Schneider didn't make any pay cuts, outside of a reduction in layover pay. They simply froze their pay raises for this year.

Are you telling me that Schneider forces their drivers to not idle no matter what the temp? Are you telling me that drivers are forced to try to survive in a sweat box? Convicted murderers are treated better than that.

I'm currently with Roehl and the only way we get a raise is to meet the idle goal nine out of twelve months. The problem is that the idle goals are unrealistic. I have two dsrs, one is a company brown noser that as another driver put it "is on a power trip." The other dsr doesn't want us to get apus because if they break down we can't idle the truck and the company won't do anything to make sure the drivers get a comfortable rest. So I guess I'll forego the pay raise and the apu so that I can sleep well at night.

Schneider's idle policy is tied into the bonus. I don't know the exact numbers, depends on the time of year...summer or winter. However, I remember reading that it was part of a retention thing...don't know how much or IF that is even enforced. SNI currently gives their bonuses every 3 months, each quarter: we just finished our second quarter at the end of June, so this week we should see the bonus. However, I think the only thing that happens if you go over the idle time is that you simply don't get the bonus.

I have found that most companies use things like idle time as an excuse to get rid of drivers they don't want to keep. When I drove end dumps we were told that if you tip a trailer you were automatically fired. Later I found out it all depended on the circumstances and your record otherwise. We had a trainer that had dumped several trailers over his career. In fact the saying was "there are two types of trailers, those that have been tipped and those that are waiting to be tipped."

Also to get a raise with Roehl you have to have driven a certain amount of miles. While I was there miles were so bad that I don't see anyone getting any kind of raise never mind the end of the year bonus. What division are you in Preacher?

Actually...its up in the air of he ever said it at all. I don't remember where I got it from...I just remember hearing it quite a bit a while back. We had a Secretary of Agriculture who said he over heard Khrushchev say that.

The idle bonus has been the same since when I was there in 02-03....

The only time I came close to getting the idle bonus was my second summer there when my A/C was busted...My STL at the time was a former driver....I was on a dedicated account out of Kenton OH....and he just said..."if you earn it ....great....If you want to stay cool/warm....that's good too."....:biggrin_25520:

I think these people ######## about "Schneider won't let you idle" have never sat in a pumpkin in their lives....:biggrin_25525:
