I hear you. Cameras have a value to the employer. I just am too set in my ways. They hand me a key to a 120,000 dollar tractor and a 35000 dollar reefer with a million dollar load with no camera at all anywhere and expect me to be in Detroit at 7 am sunrise asap. Don't call for anything unless you lost the load or broke the truck.

It takes a lot of trust for the employer to let us go with a very expensive rig and load to a faraway place and be on time. If there was going to be a problem in those days they will know about it fast enough. And if it's our fault they fire us and thats that. No cameras, no cells, no internet no nothing back then. Just plain trust between employer and drivers. If you were a good driver you got to do wonderful things. If you were a bad driver you simply got eliminated.

About a year ago someone here on TTR posted a internal Camera recording of a trucker who was texting or otherwise occupied with his modern cell phone. The truck got away from him and smashed up a bridge railing which proceeded to tear his entire rig apart and over turn it. The most memorable thing that camera recorded was as the truck came apart the driver did not for a minute let go of that cell phone. It's pretty damning.

I can see both sides of the issue. I already made a choice a very long time ago that I'll bring my own cameras thank you. No harm intended. The old ways have died years ago with these internal cameras and so on.

If you think that is something else, consider this. I was reading last night a Article where about 4800 schools around the USA operate under what is called "Gaggle" a secondary internet based survillence on every student in every grade. They do not get to write papers, communicate or do anything in school without being constantly double checked for self harm idealation, suicide, hate, bullying, copying other peoples work, cheating and so on. Whatever these kids produce from birth to graduation will be part of a database that can be referred to later by say law enforcement etc. They are concluding that children under the Gaggle system collectively are slowly exhibtiing a behavior that is specifically a form of silence towards any adult. So that the adult has nothing. They are also learning to maintain private emails and so forth so that Gaggle has no legal authority to access those communications or internet social media without a warrant etc. So the new generation is adapting already leaving the so called "Adults with nothing"

Maybe I am the dinosaur and should be shot for being old and set in my ways. Ive been free too #### many years to accept such information access.

And you know what? I know I am a very good driver with absolutely nothing since teen years to worry about on my record. there is literally nothing on it. The camera does not really bother me. It's the principle of the situation you see... Thats why I am making such the noise I make. It might be better for a employer to hire a 21 year old driver than a grumpy mid 50's driver who does not care for a internal camera.

This is a cover of Iggy Pops search and destroy from the movie Sucker Punch. Basically a movie about hot chicks in a mental institution. Anyway... I hope you enjoy it and want to go out and break #### after listening / watching the montage from its scene in the movie.

Some guys dont like the camera because they get in trouble for the way they drive and blame it on the camera and the company rather than the real problem which is their horrible driving habits...then they come on here asking chinatown for companies with no cameras and safety systems lol i would even go out on a limb and say the camera has made me a better and safer driver, its not a perfect system but it is there for a reason .

I can totally see why companies would install them. I imagine they get a cut on insurance rates too?

Yeah i would imagine thats what it comes down to, plus it is great way to cover their ### if truck gets into a wreck and it wasnt drivers fault... i even heard of a driver at central oregon flatbed got blamed for slamming his breaks on a scale in california and damaged the scale. and the scale house tried to make the company pay for repairs and company pulled footage from camera to prove the driver never touched the breaks and the scale house was lying . It works in alot of good ways to defend the driver and company but people are so hell bent with driving the way they want , they cant see the big picture of it.

Last night there were 36000+ homes with out electricity. 12 hours later the power crews had restored power to almost 12,000 homes (24000 now). The power crew is in our area repairing some 8 places that trees have fallen and dropping the wires from the poles. It is a mess out there in our town alone. We will have power back this afternoon. If not sooner.

Otherwise my contribution to your wakeup music

You should file a grievance with the Union. You're not in California!
