    Scooter,

Just wanted to pop in and thank you for a most informative Post. I am in the Navy and planning on driving Truck when I Transition. (I hit 20 years this August.....time fly's). I am in "research mode" right now....have been since 2006....LOL.... I have a WORD file that is 9 pages long of bits and pieces of great info I have gotten from this and other Boards and have added quite a bit of your Posts to it.

So a big THANKS to you, my friend. And thanks for making sure the local WM has those steak fries....my favorite.....LOL...

    Drive safe.

    R/

    Frat

When did you come through the MPLS? I was at the TA at exit 4 cashing a t-check and it looked like a Magnum convention over there. Man, did that remind me of how much I don't miss truck stops. The Kwik Trip at exit 28 is much better because I think they serve a lot of civilians, too. What a god forsaken hole that TA is, I got treated like crap from the second I walked in the door. Those are the little joys about driving that I have forgotten about.

Yep, they do..... one of the joys of being a trucker.

I was in and out within a couple of hours last Thursday. Probably be back there the end of this week......

Real good chance I am going to end up down off 494 # 61S. Why? It's a big secret.....

    I'll holler if it happens

Will do. Let's just say I may have set my future plans in place but until I know something for sure, I'm not saying much cuz I don't want to jinx it. But I should know something by either tomorrow afternoon or Thursday, and you will certainly be brought up to speed.

I do know that I am punching out for Sturtevant tomorrow. Pick up in NC # 11 am tomorrow and then have to be in WI # 6am Friday. This is cool because I should be able to get a load out for the weekend UNLESS "my plan" kicks in. No, I am not leaving Magnum. Quite the opposite.....

    (ooooo such mystery) hehehehehhehe

OK..... Thursday the 16th and I am back on the road. I was actually supposed to pick up yesterday and run to Wisconsin, but the load cancelled, so I packed up my toys and went back home.

Later in the day, dispatch called and hooked me up with a sweet run. Charlotte to Nebraska. 1400 miles and I have until Monday at 6am to deliver. SO a nice easy milk run. <big grin>

Alright, so I am now going to reveal the big mystery. Didn't want to say anything and jinx it, but it has become reality.

As soon as I can get to Minneapolis, there is a 2006 Kenworth T600 waiting for me. Yup, I done bought a truck. It's not final till I sign the papers, but they called me yesterday and told me to come pick it up when I can get there. Here's the details:

Cat 13 470 HP, Eaton 10 speed, APU, Double Bunk, VIT interior, Sunroof, Jake, tires are all 80 - 90%, steers virgin. I am actually going to take the lower bunk out and replace it with a couch that folds down into a bed. Also, after I pick it up, I will be getting a permanent mount refrigerator. 472,000 miles. Still has warranty on engine 5 years / 500000, and the transmission warranty is 5 years, 750000.

Magnum has already committed to signing me on as an owner operator, and I will be taking advantage of their insurance rate, fuel discounts, and tax advantages. Plus, I will be making a considerable amount more. (which is a good thing) And in time (within a year hopefully), I will be getting a second truck and putting someone in the first one. Or at least that is the plan.

Anyway, I added a picture of the truck to this post. It is plain white right now, but I already have the plan put together for the "colors". I will post another picture once it is done.

Oh yeah..... the book is done, been proofread by two people, and I am now in the process of getting it published.

Other than that, I really haven't been doing much of anything :?)

    MAJOR ARF!!!!!!
