I won’t use an electric jack. I have too much fear of being put in a situation where I’m stuck with the rough equivalent of a boat anchor to deal with all day. A manual jack with a block of wood has served me well for years so far.

I believe the reason for having the drivers buy them is to mitigate potential disagreements over who gets to use what equipment by the drivers all having there own and locking them up at night.

Weird, FedEx doesn’t seem to think it’s too much of a burden.

Thanks Bob, it does help. How long have you worked there?
R&L starting pay here in China Grove starts at around $21.00 an hour and maxes out at around $27.00 an hour after about three years. No OT pay. Also, what is a combo? Is that both city and linehaul?

So they pay the same or less as most LTL carriers, but no OT pay and you have to buy your own pallet jack...they caught my attention with the vacation resorts, but they won’t be on my list any longer lol

I've had one die and it is the worst, you need another one to drag it out of the trailer. I don't know why we have them, a 96 case pallet of cans is heavy but not so heavy you can't move it with a manual jack.

Everybody’s different, but that isn’t all that terrible of a price to pay for their apparent lack of micromanagement and having an assigned truck and bids on start times with actual runs.

The air condition and heated seat is pretty nice!

They are lower on the pay scale though than everyone else. Leaving big E it was a cut.
