It's from constantly writing quickly ... I had a job where I used to sign off 100-200 purchase orders a week ... My sig deteriorated to a squiggle and a loop.

The MCA signed by Carter in 1980 allowed deregulation and ease of entry into trucking.
It was what allowed every big box to be what they are today.
I read somewhere that in 1974, my first legal year, there were over 2 million teamster drivers in this regulated industry and today probably 75,000, and at that time earned an average of 30 per hour in today's dollars.
The industry has always been cyclical and last year we had to much freight and all did well. This year it's too many trucks.FlaSwampRat, LtlAnonymous and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
if we were able to organize something, and get, say, half of the trucks on the road to not take their routes for 3-5 days, do you think that would accomplish anything?

I still think you got a better chance of catching snow with a heated glove an saving it til the following winter then you do getting even half the trucks off the road.
I still wish you luck though.
Couldn't get a 100 truckers to agree on a diner let alone organized enough for a strike to matter.
I ain't hating. Just living in reality. If that offends, I apologize, but I call it as I see it, whether it's popular or not.

We had a trucker shot who was number one of four in the head one night at the 695 NB just past the 70 bridge stack. It took weeks to hunt that killer. And it seemed no one was allowed to be next to your drivers door for hardly a minute.
The last time I had a big rock problem was in the narrows west of Allentown on 78. I let it bounce to just a certain point where the next bounce should punch my face through the glass. I horsed that flatbed so hard, tilted the tripmaster (Not possible...) and BOOM that steel door of the cabover took the hit on my left.
Parked it. Next morning safety man looking at a brick sized bare metal steel and ruined paint along with a big big dent. he says WTF is this?
So I told him, oh ok. I had that door like new the following day. Matched paint and all, as it never happened.
To this day Im not sure what it would have done against the fiberglass door. It might have gone through. Maybe.Dennixx Thanks this. -
There is transparency with brokers. Whatever the company and the broker agree on is the rate, plain and simple. What the broker is getting is really nobody’s business except the broker and the company he’s getting the work from.Coffey Thanks this. -
Its worse now than in 2008.......And I Know Why,But can't post it due to TTR ethical rules.
Go Look at the Loadboards ( DAT,And every Brokers independent boardsif you have access to them)
Theres Nothing,Absolutely Nothing....(Flatbed more than van)
How are you guys that buy a truck Relying on Brokers and Loadboards making anything happen?
And been going on a while now..
They said it should Put thousands out of business......I Haven't noticed anything.
I say to get Back at those doing this in our "Free" Country- We Should go to other countries and Take their Work From Them...Whatcha Think?
Maybe go to Bulgaria and Put their Car Mechanics out on the street? Whatcha think?
Maybe go to Serbia and open up a new Water Bottle Colon Cleansing Factory? Whatcha think?
Maybe go to Zimbabwe and develop a company that makes a Feet Washing Machine that eliminates the Need to put them in a Public Sink? Whatcha Think? -
